Solved touchpad not working

I have an Asus Vivobook pro and my touchpad does not work. I get the following error: "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)", in the device manager. I cannot update the driver or revert it to a lower version, whatever I click in the touchpad properties in the device manager. The only thing I could do there is uninstall the device altogether. The touchpad works when the laptop restarts after some windows updates. It works then until I restart the laptop and then it stops working again with the same error. Does anybody have any idea how i could proceed to solve this issue?
 
While in device manage press the delete key to remove the reference and then reboot the system.
Windows will reinstall it and see if that corrects the issue.

On the keyboard there is a button (F9 I believe) that turns on and off the function of the touch pad.

When I go to the device manager and select the touchpad and press delete, I get the message: "Warning, you're about to uninstall this device from your system." So, I should press ok and unistall the device? Seems risky.
 
yep, uninstall it.
you can then right click on any entry and select Scan for hardware changes, and the system will reinstall it.
or a reboot will do the same thing.

if that doesn't resolve it, I would uninstall the touchpad software, in Programs & Features, it'll be called ELAN or Synaptics or whatever the brand is.
you could uninstall that and let Windows use the native inbuilt touchpad driver, and failing that, reinstall the latest software for the touchpad off the laptops download web page.
