Does not look excessive to me.
That tiny amount oozing out from under the heatsink won't do any damage.
I'd say leave it as it is and do not try to remove it (remember: Better - by definition- IS NOT good...)

looks like the perfect amount to me.
enough to have it squeeze out but not too much that it then drips down.
