Hello everyone,

Recently I have included SSD (KINGSTON SA400M8240G) in my Laptop. The Laptop is originally equipped with 1TG HDD (TOSHIBA MQ01ABD100).

Windows was installed in a part of the HDD as “C” drive. Now Windows is installed in the SSD. So, I am egger to de-partition the HDD after removal of old Windows file. For doing so I am trying to “extend volume” of the bigger part of the HDD (now it is E drive). But getting “
Please guide me to resolve the issue. I am attaching few screenshot for your better understanding.

Laptop Details: Acer : E5-475G, i5-6200U

Thanks.

if the old 1TB drive was still connected when the new SSD was installed and Windows loaded onto it, there may be a chance Windows has put some stuff on the old drive.
To check, I would disconnect the 1TB drive and reboot the PC, if everything boot and starts OK, you are good to reconnect the 1TB unit.

the reason you can't extend E:\ is there is no more room, all the space has already been allocated to those other partitions.
delete the New Volume (E:\) and 521MB recovery partitions, the the allocated space will extend automatically for you.
then you can create a new partition that extends over all the space.

Thanks for your reply.
The partition of HDD containing Windows 10 (which is now "Unallocated 194.80 GB") was formatted to remove old Windows files after many successful boot up from SDD. This partition was "F" drive earlier. For adding it with "E" I have deleted it. Now I am nether able to add with "E" nor able to recreate the volume back. I am getting same “There is not enough memory to complete action” error.
Now I am worried if I delete New Volume (E:\) (as you instructed), and getting same error. Hope you understand my doubts and help me on it.

The other reason it will not work is due to the partition between the two that you are attempting to combine is in the way.

why not use diskpart and have that wipe the drive then go back into Disk Manager and have it format the drive?

if you have proven that Disk 0 is not required to boot the PC and contains nothing you still want, then kill it, however you want to do that! (via diskpart, re-formatting, right clicking in Disk Management)

as Rustys and I have already said, that E:\ partition cannot be modified because the disk is already full of partitions.

and even if it doesn't help (but it will), it'll be a suck it and see exercise.
we never would have gotten out of Africa if we said "we won't go over that hill cause we don't know what's there" :)

no guts, no glory!
let us know.

Thank you all. The issue is resolved.
1st I have deleted "521 MB (Recovery Partition)" by using "diskpart". Then deleted "E" drive. Now whole Drive is Unallocated Space. Then have made it a new Simple Volume. Making it the whole size of the drive, and formatted it and gave it a drive letter.
