Hi all, I am running into a sudden reboot issue that I am having trouble diagnosing. I was given this PC by a co-worker, as a "If you fix it you can keep it" type of deal because he didn't want to deal with it anymore.

So the issue that I was able to work out initially was that Windows was corrupted (seeming to be more and more of an issue these days) so reinstalled windows and wiped the PC. During the first boot up process (setting up Windows account etc.) this is when the first reboot happened. I thought it was odd but I continued and finished the initial set up and logged in. The moment that I launched Edge the PC rebooted again, and I realized the simple "corrupt Windows" was more than just that.

I started trying to diagnose this further and found that I was not able to force this issue to replicate itself and that it is entirely random. I pulled the event logger and found:
Event ID: 41
Task Category: (63)
"The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."

- This is something that I haven't run into before so I started doing a little research and I found that it could be a number of things but primarily: CPU, PSU, RAM, and faulty boot drive.

I tried a couple of things like monitoring temp on CPU, to which nothing out of the ordinary showed up. I also reseated the CPU and reapplied the thermal paste just in case. I swapped RAM sockets and tried to use 1 stick instead of 2, and the issue persisted. I then decided to reinstall windows, on an SSD that I bought for the PC and remove the old one and the issue continued. The last thing, and the one that I haven't done anything with just yet, is the PSU. After checking with my coworker this is definitely the oldest part in the PC but before I spend more money, I wanted to reach out on here just to make sure I wasn't overlooking anything.

Here are the specs:
MOBO - MSI B550 Gaming GEN3
CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 5500
GPU - AMD Radeon RX 6650 XT Sapphire Pulse
RAM - Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 2x8GB 3200MHz
PSU - AL-D500EXP MAX500W

Any help is very much appreciated!

Do you have anyone you can burrow another power supply from?
Your graphics card alone needs a minimum 500W
You Can Confirm Here
Plus the other parts need power so you are pushing the limit.
I can't find the rating for your power supply here. https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/
Yours is made by apex. The closest I can find is apexgaming (which has AL model) in the Avoid list.

If you have another computer you can use the PSU from for testing or borrow one.

Wouldn't trust it as a doorstop, its so bad that there is only one thing worse, having the Windows Power Plan set to High Performance while this PSU is in use. fingers crossed that it has not bricked the GPU.
