I would an application to record audio that way I can pull it into Audacity and edit it. After looking around, most programs record Audio/Video combo, is there a program I am not aware of that only captures sound?

I'm sure that there are several available.
I use this one:

Simple Recorder

Edit by phillpower2: Removed external CNET link and inserted the software providers direct link which will not result in folk getting bombarded with spam should they click on it.

Actually, my original link gave a
portable desktop app with the same
name as the iOS app.
 
I haven't been able to find this app anywhere other than the store(s) for the aforementioned devices.
 
I see, and this exports in a MP3 format? Or how exactly does it work if I may ask?
