Hi,

Since yesterday the screen of my Asus went blinking and moving weirdly, random parts of the screen move or blink, the display does bad and in all the ways. It's still more or less usable but it's difficult. Usable in a sens where I can use Windows menus and start/reboot the computer. But that's all, apps like chrome or firefox are unusable.

I've tried all the following with no success :
- Install last graphic card driver
- system restore impossible (an unspecified error occured during system restore
0x8007000e)
- chkdsk /R on C:\
- system refresh
- Reinstall Windows 8.1

Problem is still there it's crazy.
In the UEFI bios : no problem
Loading screen with Asus logo at startup : no problem
Windows installer from USB drive : no problem

But as soon as Windows runs the problem is there.

When installing Windows, there's first the setup to create partitions and launch the installation, here no problem, everything goes through and the PC restarts, but when it's done and Windows runs from the very first installation screen to choose a name for the PC, the problem is there.

I don't use the battery, it's removed and the PC connected to the sector since more than 1 year
 
Welcome to PCHF Yuwnii,

The first and most accurate test that you need to do is to connect the notebook to an external screen and see what the display is like on that, if the external display is ok it suggests a bad notebook screen or video cable, if the video on the external display is also bad it can either be driver or graphics chip related.

Hi, I tried it and the display is bad on an external screen too, what can I do then ?
 
That leaves drivers or the graphics solution, check the drivers first if you will.

Try starting the computer in Safe Mode only (no networking) ASUS "how to" here

Can I ask that you do not quote every reply, it really does not help any and just makes for unnecessary reading, thanks.

I already installed the last driver, didn't work.

The problem is still there in safe mode too
 
Sorry but crossed wires as it was suggested starting in Safe Mode to rule out any third party drivers as the cause of the issue.

Starting the computer in Safe Mode means that only the bare minimum of Microsoft drivers are loaded and the fact that you are still getting the same problem using only Microsoft drivers suggests that this is hardware related, it could be heat related, a bad power supply, bad MB or even the RAM not being seated correctly.

The notebook is going to need to be opened up for further investigation, are you confident enough to do this, reseating the RAM is easy enough but you may find anything else somewhat daunting, see example "how to" video here

Edit to add: For clarity, was the issue also present on the external screen when in Safe Mode.
