Hi all, my laptop (Samsung) has two issues. The fist is that whenever I power it on, the screen only comes up maybe 10% of the time. The second problem (attached is a video example of) occurs when the screen is on. The screen flickers or is black only until I place the screen at "sweet spot" angle that the display will hold steady. If there are any guesses as to what may be causing these problems, and potential fixes (am willing to spend up to $100ish on any repairs).

that's a nice crack on the screen!

I would say the ribbon cable running from the base, through the hinges, to the screen is damaged.
either frayed through sheer use or damaged in whatever happened to cause that crack.

probably not much you can do unless you are really handy with a screwdriver and a soldering iron.
and if the machine is more than a few years old, probably not worth it even if it is fixable.
 
Plus two for the ribbon cable or ribbon connectors, not a rare occurrence.

Update: New Screen arrived but don’t know how to install. Please see pics below for situation. Basically this is stumping me because most tutorial videos work with a laptop that has an easily removed bezel on the screen. My screen has no bezel that I can see as the whole surface is flush. Big question: how do I open this thing up?

what did you buy, the whole screen, like the old one you have already removed, or just the LCD unit that then goes into the screen compartment?
if the prior, should be the reverse on how you got the old one out.
if the later, **** - no idea, each screen tends to be different enough to cause headaches.
also if the later, hopefully the original issue is in the part you bought and not somewhere else.
