I am trying to transfer files from a thumb-drive to my phone using a Windows 7 PC, well it seems to be going alright and then it just hangs at like 10 seconds left of the transfer and i eventually have to cancel the transfer, but then sometimes after canceling the transfer it shows that the file has been transferred.. Also for some reason the PC is not detecting my phone all the time, sometimes it will detect it and sometimes it will just stop, and say that the device has stopped working or been unplugged, even though neither is the case.

How many files at a time are you transferring?
Might try one then two ETC... at a time.

Remember you phone only has a certain amount of space allocated for files.

Are you disconnecting the phone form the system properly? If you are just unplugging it the system might not have released the reference to the device.

I still have about 7 GBs of space left on my phone. And as for disconnecting it i have been doing that via the "Safely Remove Media and Eject Hardware" icon in the bottom try.

How are you transferring the files?
Drag and Drop
Copy/Cut and Paste

How long do you wait before you cancel?

I am Dragging and Dropping also Cut & Paste, and it seems to do it with both of those options. I am usually waiting about 2 or 3 minutes before i cancel, but it seems like about half of the time when i cancel it will successfully transfer the file sometime not though, in fact sometimes it will show that the file isn't in the folder, but then when i got to retry it says the file already exists and do i want to overwrite it or create a new file.

Lets check the computer logs and see if they shed any light on this.

Go to start and right click on Computer
Select Mange
On the left side there will be a list open Event Viewer
Look over the events at the time and date this happens.

So this is not your computer?

You may have to let them know so they can get you access they may have it configured to prevent stuff like that form happening. If it is allowed then they may have to correct a configuration to allow it.

Do you have any updates for us?
Well I ended up just backing up all the files on my SD card, and then wiping the SD card. I then put the files back on the SD card yesterday, and it seems like it is working OK so far. Only once since then did it freeze up during a file transfer so i just canceled the transfer and a couple minutes later tried again and it worked. I'm still not 100% sure whats going on, but I think I fixed it for the most part.
I think maybe the problem was with the SD card, it was from an older phone and I just took it out and put it in my new phone. After wiping the SD card I have noticed there are a lot less folders then before, so I think alot of the stuff that was on the SD card was junk left over (i.e. system files) from my old phone, and maybe that was screwing it up.

Could have been the card... Thanks for the update..Do you consider this solved then?
