Not sure if anyone on here could help with the following problem.

My wife asked me if I could transfer some photos from her camera to her laptop as I had done it several times but when I tried it only showed 34 pictures when I plugged it into the laptop but on the camera there are about 500 photos.I also tried on this laptop same result it is a big difference about 470 pictures. Her camera which is quite new is a Nikon Coolpix W300..Her OS is Windows 10.Any advice appreciated Thank's

how are you transferring the photos - SD card, CF card, camera to PC USB cable?
are the files in multiple folders on the camera that the PC isn't seeing?
can you look at the memory cards, or camera storage, from File Explorer?
has Nikon taken the photos in RAW format?
what are the type of images you do see - JPG, Tiff, etc, as compared to the ones you aren't seeing but know they are on the camera - RAW, HEIC etc?
