Yeah I'm back

I've been having troubles running Hot dogs horseshoes and hand grenades, even on the lowest possible settings.

Here are my specs

Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070
Intel core i5 13600k
32GB ram ddr4 3200mhz
Samsung 2tb nvme m.2 ssd
MSI MAG B760 Tomahawk wifi ddr4
Corsair RM1200X (overkill I know)

I feel like this should be well over enough to run this game, but it stutters terribly and freezes until it's just completely frozen. At first I thought it might've been because Steamvr was using the integrated graphics as that's what was coming up in the system info in Steamvr, but even when it does detect the actual gpu it still runs the same. I tried disabling the integrated graphics all together and that didn't affect it either. Any ideas? My graphics card drivers are up to date.

One aspect of lag is your internet connection, how is that?
Go to speedtest.net and show us your speeds. :)

If your rig is connecting via wireless, switch to ethernet cable (yep, you may have to move the rig closer to the modem) and see if it's any better.

I'm using a wired connection, and I got a max of 927.36 mb/s.

In your previous thread you list your RAM as being 3600MHz which when only DDR4 is not appropriate for your CPU, have you replaced the RAM for the more appropriate speed that you list above.

Download then run Speccy ( free ) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

that was a typo, I meant 3200mhz
here's the link to the speccy page http://speccy.piriform.com/results/Wgj7XdjYFhHNRpuYNP3XhHi
I did take this one while Tarkov is running, hopefully that's alright

Couple of things of note in Speccy but before elaborating can we have a new Speccy url that has been done with nothing else running in the background.

RAM
Memory
Size: 32534 MBytes
Physical Memory
Memory Usage: 75 %
Total Physical: 32 GB
Available Physical: 7.63 GB
Total Virtual: 58 GB
Available Virtual: 20 GB

Thanks, the new Speccy url is still showing high memory usage, almost 10GB when the computer is doing nothing.

Norton 360 for Gamers

A strong contender as the cause of your problems.

Is the above a free trial or a paid for product, it is hopefully the former and not the latter.

Two other things to mention but will wait on your next reply and deal with the three at the same time.

it's the free trial though I ain't paying for norton lmao

That is a relief as you don`t want or need the rather invasive software with built in VPN and other resource hogging junk.

Windows own Defender and Firewall are all that most of us need, those that download torrents and the likes may well do, see my canned info below;

Windows 8, 8.1, 10 and 11 come with an improved Windows Defender, it offers the same real-time anti-virus/anti-malware protection as Microsoft Security Essentials. Windows Defender also shares the same malware signature definitions as Microsoft Security Essentials, and Forefront Endpoint Protection. Technically, Microsoft Security Essentials has not been renamed Windows Defender, or combined with it in Windows 8, 8.1, 10 and 11.

Norton uninstall info here

Once Norton has been correctly uninstalled, restart, check to see if Windows Defender has auto enabled and allow it to update and carry out a full scan of your computer.

Power Profile
Active power scheme: Razer Cortex Power Plan

I hate crap like this with a vengeance, desktops should use Windows own Balanced Power Plan and nothing else, revert to this while we troubleshoot at least, once sorted it is entirely up to yourself if you revert back.

The third thing that needs to be mentioned is that the initial installation of Windows and subsequent set up was not done correctly, see my canned info for this below;

Once Windows has been clean installed you must then install first the MBs chipset drivers then the storage/SATA drivers and third the graphics drivers, the drivers can either come from a disk provided by the motherboard manufacturer or downloaded from their site and saved to a flash drive etc, this is a must and Windows should not be allowed to check for updates before it has been done as more often than not Windows installs the wrong drivers or in the incorrect order and this can cause all sorts of problems.

The reason why this procedure is so important, the chipset is what enables the MB to be able to communicate with all the hardware + are the first drivers that Windows looks for on boot.

Nothing can be done about the Windows and initial drivers installation I`m afraid so lets hope that getting rid of Norton and/or reinstating the Balanced Power Plan resolves the issue/s.

Once each of the above have been done, restart, test by using the computer as you normally would, post back with an update when you are ready.

No rush here as I am off on an errand for a couple of hours in about twenty minutes time.

I tried playing h3vr again after doing everything you suggested and still had the same result. Also I feel like this might be important to mention, but it's not just the game that loses frames, but my entire pc freezes because of it. Could this indicate something? Also Oculus says that my rig doesn't meet specs, but according to their recommendations I definitely do.

Is this a modded game.

Can you post a new Speccy url and a MTB log;

Download MiniToolBox and save the file to the Desktop.

Close the browser and run the tool, check the following options;

List last 10 Event Viewer Errors
List Installed Programs
List Devices (Only Problems)
List Users, Partitions and Memory size

Click on Go.

Post the resulting log in your next reply for us if you will.

sorry about the delay, but it's unmodded, see attached for the mtb file (I assumed you wanted this one while nothing is running as well)

Can we have the requested Speccy url as well please.

How have things been since you made those changes.

What is the brand and model name or number of the headset that you are using.

Couple of things in the MTB log but they predate the changes that you made.

NB: Bit of a nag from me but people can help themselves by uninstalling drivers for any no longer used devices, have you done so.

Reason why it was important that we had the Speccy url;

Windows Defender
Windows Defender: Enabled
Firewall
Firewall: Enabled
Display Name: Norton 360 for Gamers
Antivirus
Windows Defender
Antivirus: Enabled

Virus Signature Database: Up to date

Power Profile
Active power scheme: High performance

Speccy is telling us that you have not correctly achieved either of the two suggestion that were made in my reply #10.

The Windows Power Plan we know with 100% certainty has not been set to Balanced as was advised but the Norton you may well have tried but been unsuccessful, this unfortunately is what happens with invasive software and to make matters worse both Norton and Defender are both running and so are their Firewalls.

Mostly everything is fine, my computer runs perfectly normal until I open the game.

Which would normally suggest that it is the game that is the issue and something that helpers can do zero about, that said, I suspect that this may be a VR issue between the game and the VR headset but you really need to get rid of that Norton crap and change the Power Plan to Balanced before doing anything else, we are at a stop here until those two known problematic things are sorted.

How did you try to remove Norton's - from the removal tool supplied in post #10 or from Programs & Features and the normal uninstall process?

Post a new MTB fo us, if Norton shows up there we will have to get rid of it another way.

The headset I'm using is a Razer Kraken Ultimate. As for the drivers, I haven't exactly changed my peripherals since I built this pc.

Just a thought, do you recall having ever having installed drivers specific to this hardware, same for any firmware updates for the headset.
