Hi! :)

This is pretty much my last hope... I've already tried so many things.

So! Here's my computer:

  • Windows 11
  • Intel Core i9-13900K
  • 32 GB RAM
  • Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti
  • Motherboard : Asustek computer inc prime z790-p wifi
  • BIOS : American megatrends inc 1002, 2023-03-31
It started closing random games/applications out of nowhere. The issue became more and more frequent, so I finally decided to investigate. Turns out, I just spent 5 hours trying everything I could find, but nothing changed. That said, I did come across some potential issues, so my time wasn’t entirely wasted:

  • I found an error with FLTMGR.SYS. I tried to fix it but I’m not sure if I succeeded.
  • Kernel was also something in error?
  • Everything that could be updated has been updated (even some random, forgotten ASUS drivers).
  • Many crashes seem to be memory-related.
  • The error "Out of video memory trying to allocate a rendering resource..." now appears almost every time I try to launch a game.
  • Also, even with everything closed, my memory usage is consistently around 30%. I have 32 GB of RAM—is that normal? Nothing unusual seems to be running in the background.
I'm tired... Please help...

Welcome to PCHF :)

Speccy Scan.

  • Please go here and download Speccy.
  • Install and run the program.
  • Upon Completion:
  • Hit File
  • Publish Snap Shot
  • A link will appear, post that link.

MinitoolboxScan.

Please download MiniToolBox and save it to your desktop.
Run the program by right clicking on it and selecting Run as administrator.
When the program opens Select ALL
Click Go
Attach the log or copy and paste.

Also, download the attached batch file.
Unzip to your desktop.
Right click run as admin.
This will list your service configuration, and scheduled task.
When the batch file has completed a new .txt file will appear on your desktop.
Named PCHF.txt attach that here for us, in your next reply.

Also, upload minidump files for review please.

Alright, let's free up some resources while I check the dump files.

Please download the file PrivWindozeLite.exe and place it on your desktop.

Important: Ensure that you save all your current work, as this script will attempt to close all non-essential processes during its scan, including the web browser you are using to read this message.

  • Right-click on PrivWindozeLite.exe and select "Run as administrator" from the context menu.
  • When the tool launches, you may be prompted again to save your work before proceeding.
  • If the scan does not start automatically, press any key on your keyboard to initiate it.
  • The script will try to create a System Restore point and will go through several stages of scanning. Please be patient during this process.
  • Don't worry if Windows Explorer closes; it will reopen once the scan is complete. This process typically takes just a few minutes.
  • After the scan is done, the command prompt window will close automatically after 5 seconds, and you should find a log file named PrivWindoze.txt on your desktop.
  • Please copy or attach the contents of PrivWindoze.txt in your next response.
This tool removes the following:
  • Recall
  • ZuneVideo
  • ZuneMusic
  • Copilot
  • Other bloatware/bundled software from OEM manufacturers (e.g., Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo)

Download
O&O Shutup Ten
Move it to your documents folder.
Right click run as admin.
Go to actions, apply all settings.
Create the restore point when prompted.
Follow thru the prompts, and reboot if needed to apply the settings.

Download Tweaky:
Unzip to your desktop.
Right click run as admin.

Under Misc:

  • Disable Telemtry & Data Collection
Under Functionality:

  • Disable Cortana
  • Uninstall One Drive
  • Disable Driver Updates
  • Disable P2P Delivery optimization.
Then Click Apply Tweaks.

Reboot the machine.

Post new speccy & minitoolbox log when done.

Also, here is your custom batch file to disable un-needed services, remove smart screen and disable searchost. It will also download Open Shell to your desktop so you can replace the start menu, once searchhost, exe is disabled it may render the start menu void..

Unzip to your desktop, right click run as admin. There is a restore point created at the start of the script as well.

The script will need to reboot your machine for the changes to take effect.

Related to your game: Hogwarts Legacy

I suggest that you clean install your graphics card drivers

Use this method.

Then use the Nvidia Clean Install Tool.

Percent of memory used went down 10 points so far.

First MTB log:
Percentage of memory in use: 41%

Second MTB log:
Percentage of memory in use: 32%

Reddit recommends updating the BIOS — should I try that?

I'd hold off on the Bios Update, move onto the next few steps and then try your games.

I'm not 100 percent sure about the Scehduled task names. So you can use this tool, to disable the task listed in the batch file.

Download TaskSchedulerView (64-bit)

At miniimum disable these, they can certainly cause you to be booted out of a game, sceduled task do that for some reason.

The batch file I had you run seems to not list the scheduled task on windows 11 machines, so I will have to fix that later.

Also, if you do not use EDGE. then use this tool to disable it.

Use GeekUninstaller to remove anything you do not use, then hit the View button at the top and remove any MS Store Apps you do not use.

Complete everything listed including clean install of graphics drivers and disable of scheduled task, then test out your game and let me know.

I also noticed that you have:

Antivirus:
  • Malwarebytes
  • Enabled
  • Virus Signature Database:
  • Up to date

It also list that Defender is Disabled, but you are getting errors via Defender and that could be due to some elements of it still running:

Use Defender control to fully disable it since Malwarebytes is installed and running on the machine.
Unzip to your documents folder or a place you will remember to keep up with it.
Password to unzip is sordum and right click run as administrator.
Click Disable Windows Defender.

Could certainly be the cause of the Out of video memory trying to allocate a rendering resource. issue.

  • The script for Windows defender said it doesn't find the path
  • Bambu lab is now updated
  • graphic card now clean installed
  • tasks are disabled
By the way, thanks a lot for your help, it’s really appreciated.

No problem (y)

If open shell was not downloaded to your desktop then install it from here.

Since SearchHost.exe is now disabled, you will need it for your start menu to work.

You can also control what connects to the internet with this app that will replace windows firewall.

I'd say a bios update may be in order.

smaaall tiny question : Is there a way to get my Windows interface back to how it was before? Also, my mic on Discord doesn’t work anymore. I assume it’s because we tinkered with the drivers to get my PC back to life. How do I fix that?

Discord maybe reinstall.
Windows interface I assume that O&O Shutup Ten had that affect.
You could reverse that.

Easiest way would be a system restore point that the first tool created. PrivWindozeLite.exe
From elevated command prompt type
rstrui.exe
Hit enter and choose the PrivWindoze point that was created.
Everything we did will be reversed.
