reset pc not long ago, and every time on boot it will ask me to select a volume to boot windows from

"volume 3" is the default, and works perfectly fine, however there is another "volume 6" that immediately blue screens

after doing some research on how to delete the volume i've found it does not even show up on disk management

Download then run Speccy ( free ) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Operating System
Windows 10 Home 64-bit
Computer type: Desktop
Installation Date: 12/12/2024 00:36:06

Not sure what volume 3 or 6 are but noticed that it was only 9 days ago that Windows was installed, this means that you may have a Windows Old Folder still present, they typically get deleted ten days after an upgrade or fresh install.
Partition 1
Partition ID: Disk #1, Partition #1
Disk Letter: C:
File System: NTFS
Volume Serial Number: A4751D37
Size: 237 GB
Used Space: 119 GB (50%)
Free Space: 118 GB (50%)

Have you saved anything to the SSD other than Windows 10.

reset pc not long ago,

When and how as in what option did you use, did you select the Clean data option for example.

not 100% sure on the exact date but it was probably the 9th if that was when windows was installed
i chose the option to completely wipe the drives, so yes for the clean data option
the SSD has everything i use right now, the hard drive is mostly free but i plan on using it later

Speccy says the 12th which mean that the Windows Old file should still be present, if Windows is working okay you can manually delete the Windows Old folder, see MS info here

i chose the option to completely wipe the drives, so yes for the clean data option

But did you manually select the Clean data option, if you don`t Windows leaves stuff behind.

the SSD has everything i use right now, the hard drive is mostly free but i plan on using it later

Just a fyi, Windows should always be installed on either its own drive or on a separate partition on a larger drive, this reduces the amount of free space that is required to be kept available + it makes creating a regular back a whole lot easier.

A 256GB SSD or separate partition on a larger capacity drive should be the minimum capacity allowed for.

Equally as important is being prepared for the need to upgrade to another OS, Windows 10 is nearing its end of life and extended support will cease on October 14th, 2025, when the time comes you will only have to worry about upgrading or clean installing Windows to the C: partition as opposed to needing to reinstall all of your programs and data if they were kept on a separate partition on the same drive.

Windows will also boot up quicker on its own partition as it does not need to install drivers for any third party programs.

Most odd;

Can you upload an expanded screenshot of Disk Manager for us.

Access Disk Management via Run.

Press the Windows+R keys to open Run, type diskmgmt.msc in the empty box then press OK.

To capture and post a screenshot;

Click on the ALT key + PRT SCR key..its on the top row..right hand side..now click on start...all programs...accessories...paint....left click in the white area ...press CTRL + V...click on file...click on save...save it to your desktop...name it something related to the screen your capturing... BE SURE TO SAVE IT AS A .JPG ...otherwise it may be to big to upload... after typing in any response you have... click on Upload a File to add the screenshot.

Screenshot instructions are provided to assist those that may read this topic but are not yet aware of the “how to”.

Its as you say only the one boot partition which can only mean one thing there are two instances of Windows 10 on the one partition, how rhat would happen I have no idea, this btw one of the reasons I always clean install Windows and the system drivers.

Side note, you have not installed any system drivers and your SSD is coming up as unknown, don`t know if these are related to the two OSs issues.

Once Windows has been clean installed you must then install first the MBs chipset drivers then the storage/SATA drivers and third the graphics drivers, the drivers can either come from a disk provided by the motherboard manufacturer or downloaded from their site and saved to a flash drive etc, this is a must and Windows should not be allowed to check for updates before it has been done as more often than not Windows installs the wrong drivers or in the incorrect order and this can cause all sorts of problems.

The reason why this procedure is so important, the chipset is what enables the MB to be able to communicate with all the hardware + are the first drivers that Windows looks for on boot.

Download MiniToolBox and save the file to the Desktop.

Close the browser and run the tool, check the following options;

Click on Go.

Post the resulting log in your next reply for us if you will.

**** End of log ****

No worries but after looking at the results I suggest that you do a clean install of not just Windows using an ISO but as previously mentioned the system drivers as well.

A Windows reset seldom works out and I feel that they are a waste of time in all honesty.

Can I ask why you did a reset in the first place, were you having problems already, your log shows security problems.

had a blue screen loop after a system restore, which was done because windows search didnt work
