Hi everyone,

I recently built my first desktop PC with little prior experience, and I’m running into boot issues. Here are my specs:

  • Motherboard: ASUS B650 Plus WiFi
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
  • RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR5 2x16GB
  • Cooler: Thermalright PS120SE CPU Air Cooler
  • GPU: Gigabyte Radeon RX 7800 XT
  • Storage: Crucial P3 2TB SSD
  • Corsair: Corsair RM850x Shift 850W 80+
After completing the build, I powered it on but got no display output. The DRAM light on the motherboard remained lit. Assuming a connection issue, I reassembled everything and checked all connections, but the issue persisted.

I attempted a BIOS update multiple times, but each attempt failed. However, when I plugged in my Windows 11 installation USB, the system booted to the TUF Gaming splash screen with no warning lights. It then froze there.

After waiting a while, I powered it off and back on. This time, the system started cycling through the Q-LEDs:

  1. Orange (DRAM) → Red (CPU) → White (VGA) → Back to Orange (looping)
  2. After another BIOS update attempt, the lights started cycling continuously while the fans ramped up and down. My monitor, keyboard, and mouse briefly lit up, then turned off again.
  3. Eventually, it settled on the Boot light (white), but I was unable to enter the BIOS or interact with anything.
Troubleshooting Steps I’ve Tried:

  1. Reseated the RAM multiple times, ensuring it was in the recommended A2/B2 slots and fully clicked in. Also tried booting with one stick at a time in different slots.
  2. Cleared CMOS by removing the battery for a few minutes and reinserting it.
  3. Tried updating the BIOS via BIOS Flashback multiple times, but each attempt failed.
  4. Tried a Windows 11 installation USB, and surprisingly, the system booted to the TUF Gaming splash screen with no warning lights, but then it froze.
  5. Restarted the PC, and it cycled through the Q-LEDs in this order:
Orange (DRAM) then Red (CPU) then White (VGA)(like a very fast flash and then) Back to Orange (looping).

  1. Updated the BIOS again, and now it cycles through all the Q-LEDs, the fans spin up and down, and my monitor, keyboard, and mouse briefly light up, then shut off again.
  2. Eventually, the system gets stuck on the Boot light (white), and I can’t access BIOS or interact with anything.
I am thinking about checking the CPU socket, but I don’t want to mess it up and only want to check if it’s the last thing to do same with the SSD

At this point, I’m out of ideas. I’m considering taking it to a repair shop, but I’d really like to fix it myself if possible. Any suggestions?
