Hello everyone,

I am not sure if it is a windows issue or hardware one. But this is what happened.

My pc froze so I made a restart. Afterwards no sound comes out, it does not see the speakers nor the headphones, there is a code 10 error in High definition Audio in Device manager under System devices. And when I try to turn pc off monitor goes dark but the pc still runs. I tried to reinstall the chipset and realtek drivers, i tried to uninstall the code 10 error audio controller and restart. Headphones and speakers work, but PC doesnt see them. Windows audio is turned on. It only sees HDMI "sound" but since my monitor has no speakers I got no sound. Is there any chance it is a software issue? Or is it likely a hardware issue with my motherboard soundcard?

Welcome to PCHF Omnio,

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Yes it is very helpful and especially as it does not disclose any personal or security details such as names or product keys etc.

Headphones and speakers work,
Can you explain what you mean by the above.

As you are aware your MB has a Realtek audio chip, we can see drivers for the device but not the audio chip itself, this means that the chip has either failed or that it has become disabled in the BIOS somehow.

Running: Realtek Audio Universal Service

But only Nvidea audio is mentioned in the Speccy device tree;

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060

Generic PnP Monitor

High Definition Audio Controller

NVIDIA High Definition Audio

IPS225 (NVIDIA High Definition Audio)

NVIDIA USB 3.10 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.10 (Microsoft)

I just ment that they are not faulty and its software / hardware issue. I can have a look into bios. But i think i probably need to change the MB

Which means that you have tested them on another computer and they worked, yes!

No need to change the board if the audio chip has gone out, you can get a USB audio device which is a similar size to a thumbdrive.

Going offline now as I have a 6am start in the morning, will hopefully be able to check back at some point after work.

Thanks for the help! I think I´ll go for the replacement under warranty, in case there is something else wrong with the MB. Hopefuly it wont take them long.

Before returning the MB, try restoring the factory defaults in the BIOS just in case the audio chip has been disabled there somehow.
