I posted previously about buying a new ASUS 17" Vivobook and having problems with it freezing up. Hardware diagnostics showed no problems and there was no virus.
What I found out is that just because you buy a new computer doesn't mean it has the latest versions of the operating system or any software. I guess I was naive to assume that!
I got rid of Firefox and added Chrome, plus I updated to the latest version of Windows 10, so I am hoping that will solve my problems.

Well I had my local tech shop buy this one for me and then I paid them to transfer my data from my old machines. I would have thought they would have run the updates at that time, but they didn't. When it started to freeze on me I took it in to them. They ran diagnostics on the hardware, but still did not update my operating system or suggest a different browser. I had no idea that new computers needed all this. Also I made the false assumption that computer geeks who actually have a service shop would know these basics, but I guess you can't take anything for granted. Now I know!
 
I would’ve expected a tech shop to do that yes. Usually PCs from an Electical/PC store are out of date.
Checking the build of the OS would’ve been one of the first things to check for a problematic PC.

They know alright but time is money and big box stores in particular don`t do anything for nothing.
