I have a problem where when I connect to any site on the internet it sometimes gets me a message saying this site cant be reached and it stays for 1-10 secounds before actually connecting. some apps also have difficulties connecting sometimes.
have tried flushing DNS and getting new IP.
some days when I power on the computer it also takes a long time before apps start up and the toolbar loads in.
Anyone have tips on how to resolve?

So other can assist let get a speccy report.

Do not forget to post the make and model of the PSU if this is a desktop.

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Read through and see if this resource helps at all?

Have you tried a clean boot to see if that reveals anything?

Have you tried running the system file checker?

I tried performing clean boot.
Now the problem is gone but I have reenabled everything I disabled, so not sure what the problem was

Was the clean boot the only thing that you did?

Let's see how the system reacts over the next few days if nothing happens then you should be good.
Otherwise, we can still look at other things.

Some things have notices so far.

One thing that I do see in the speccy report is you C: drive is getting full you may want to do some cleaning before that starts affecting the system. Considering that not just windows is updating you can and will run out of space fast.

Windows requires an average of 32 GB free space and 7-10 GB reserved for patches and updates. The less space you have the harder the system has to work, and files will become corrupt. Figure an average of 20% to 30% is good.

Used Space: 140 GB (63%)
Free Space: 81 GB (37%)

Another issue we can see is high RAM usage. When you ran the speccy was it done when the system was idle?

Physical Memory
Memory Usage: 60 %
Total Physical: 16 GB
Available Physical: 6.24 GB

As you can see that 60% is being used by the system leaving you 6.24 GB availed for anything else.

Firstly to answer the question to your earlier post, yes that was all i tried.

Turns out it is not fixed after all. I have again tried to turn off sertain services and leaving them off still not better.
I believe steam and chrome was running and that takes quite a bit of ram.
Added a new speccy with no programs running and all services turned back on. http://speccy.piriform.com/results/z2EBwLqtDEpcFPEs1hIQb7u

The connection issues really do seem to come and go and as of right now, no problem. 5 minutes ago before doing this I had the same problems connecting to sites.

Have tried fireing up single programs to see if they are the problem but nothing, have tried fireing up all of witch i usually have running and nothing.
Will probably come back soon tho.

Will also look over some files on :C to free up some more space, did move quite a few files and games a while ago as the disk was almost full.

Thanks so much for looking into it and trying to help. Really appriciate it,

AVG Antivirus
Antivirus: Enabled
Virus Signature Database: Up to date

Yuk, get rid of this resource hog and things will hopefully be resolved, you don`t need it and by not having it you are freeing up resources and removing possible conflicts.

Windows 8, 8.1, 10 and 11 come with an improved Windows Defender, it offers the same real-time anti-virus/anti-malware protection as Microsoft Security Essentials. Windows Defender also shares the same malware signature definitions as Microsoft Security Essentials, and Forefront Endpoint Protection. Technically, Microsoft Security Essentials has not been renamed Windows Defender, or combined with it in Windows 8, 8.1 and 10.

If any AV product that you have is a paid for version you should always make sure that you have a copy of the product key kept somewhere safe just in case you ever wish to reinstall it.

How to uninstall AVG here

Once AVG has been correctly uninstalled, check to see if Windows Defender has auto enabled and allow it to update and carry out a full scan of your computer.

Once done, restart, test by using the computer as you normally, post back with an update when you are ready.

PSU: XFX ProSeries XXX Edition 650W PSU

Got to ask, how long have you had this PSU, only Bronze efficiency rated, released way back in 2012 and not an appropriate PSU for this build even when out of the box new, you are lucky that it has internal components from Seasonic and not some el cheapo brand.

Which power supply do you need?

When was the last time you rebooted the modem and or router and or the entire network?

Have you also tried resetting your network setting using the Admin Command Prompt or through Windows?

Reset network via windows.

Make sure that you do not have any programs open since the system will be rebooting.

Go into Setting
Select Network and Internet
Make sure you are under Status in the left
On the Right scroll down and select Network Reset
Read the information and then select Reset Now
Select Yes for the network to be reset and the system to reboot.
The rest before the system reboots may take a few minutes

How to reset via Command Prompt
Open an Administrator Command Prompt
type (Copy and Paste) the following Commands and press Enter

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
nbtstat -R
nbtstat -RR
netsh int reset all
netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
netsh int ipv6 reset
netsh int ipv4 reset
netsh winsock reset catalog

Reboot your computer and see if that helps at all.

Well, the PSU was bought in 2014 and has just followed me through the upgrades. been thinking about getting a new one for a while now, but haven't decided what to get yet or had the time to find out what type would fit in my system.

Will remove AVG then since it is unnessesary.

Router and modem was rebooted and also checked for firmware updates about a week ago (might have been 2 weeks)

Did try the first three steps you mention about resetting network but not the rest, did some reserch about this before coming here and did not find the part about nbtstat and netsh.
Guessing from how you wrote this that I do not need to do both the reset from network settings AND the CMD, just one or the other.

Will try it out and test if it makes anything better.

This should help with deciding on the PSU

No as far as the reset for the network is you can do one or the other.

Thank you for keeping us informed

Yeah sorry about late answer, I have been a little busy the last few days and havent had time to test before now.

What happens when you directly connect to the modem and do not use the router.

Did you ever complete the instructions in Post 8 and 9?

How did the system run while in clean boot?

Have you thought about resetting back to factory the modem or router?
As a last resort.
