I put an already working hard drive into a PC, Ethernet and Wifi was working before I did all of the Windows updates.

The Ethernet is showing "unidentified network, no internet". When troubleshooting Ethernet the problem is "ethernet 2 doesn't have a valid ip configuration", so as a normal person would do, I researched this error all over the internet, and followed all of the guides, which were:
  • network reset
  • network commands in cmd (renew, release, flushdns etc)
  • downloaded a new version of the driver "Realtek PCIE GBE family controller" on to a memory stick and installed the update (Uninstalled the driver before I did this).
  • enabled DCHP
  • turned off power saving in adapter options
  • disabled antivirus in Windows Security settings (don't have any other installed)
  • logged in to router to see if it was showing up there as one of the guides told me to do so (it is not showing up in the router settings, checked mac address etc.)
  • uninstalled and reinstalled driver in safe mode
I have basically followed every guide I can find on the internet, but nothing is working. One of them did mention update bios, however, I did check if there was a new bios version for my PC and the latest and only other version for my bios is (BETA BIOS), see pic attached. So I am not sure whether or not to update the BIOS (need advice on this).

I am at a loss. I have spent 2 full days trying to solve this issue.

The WIFI after the windows update has poor signal, it picks my Wi-Fi up now and again, but doesn't stay connected, most times it's not showing any networks. I am using "realtek wlan 802.11n" - usb WI-FI adapter, and it was working perfectly before the updates.

Any help would be great, thanks in advance.

See if this helps.

I realised last night I forgot to add that in to the original post, I did already try this and it didn't work.

The weird thing is when I turned the PC on this morning, the Ethernet decided to work, so when I got my chance I did "ipconfig /all" and wrote down the IPV4 address and the DNS server that it was connected to, just in case it happens again, I could try changing the IP address. I didn't even reboot the router or anything this morning, I was just about to do it when I realised it was working. So I haven't a clue about what was wrong with it. I just hope it doesn't start playing up on me again.

Sometimes it just hic ups for a moment without rhyme or reason.

Test it out for a couple of days and let us know if there are any issues.

If we do not hear from you will close thread and mark accordingly.

Since you have the ip address
Click on the search and type in network status

You should get a settings list showing Network Status

Click on Ethernet on the left-hand side

Click on change adapter options on the right-hand side

Right click on Ethernet

Left click on Properties

Left click on Internet Protocol Version (TCP/IPv4)

Left click on Properties

Left click on use the following IP Address

Put in the ip address information you got from ipconfig /all

Click Ok >Close
