I just finished building my first pc, it turns on but it doesn't show anything on my monitor which isn't the problem since i don't have windows on usb drive yet anyway. I'm wondering how i'll even boot from the usb if i don't get anything on my screen now. Does it boot windows if i just plug it into my pc or do i have to access my motherboard to boot from there first. Plus, i dont have a disc drive for my motherboard to install my drivers so how do i do that too if thats how i get into my pc? This is probably really confusing but i'd really appreciate any help. Thank you

Hello

First thing you will have to have a bootable usb setup to start with, go into your bio's via f12 or whatever your build calls for to setup boot from usb.. After you have an OS on your usb, make sure the pc is ready and shut down pc. Insert usb in pc and restart. After the OS is installed do not forget to install your chipset drivers for your mobo.

When your computer turns on, what happens? Do all the fans spin or anything? Can we know the brand and model of the motherboard?

Typically you should be able to enter BIOS/UEFI even without having a drive with an OS, because that is firmware built into the motherboard. I would make sure that the monitor is plugged into the graphics card, not the motherboard, if your CPU did not come with integrated graphics. Or, if it is plugged into the graphics card, then try plugging it in to the motherboard to see if there is a different result. I would also make sure that that there are no loose cables and everything is connected. It seems obvious, but sometimes we forget or a cable is loose and we didn't realize.

If there is still no display, then I would try a different cable and maybe a different port, or outlet, just to remove any doubt that it is the lack of connection with your monitor that is causing the problem.

If there is still no display, then I would begin to question if it is POSTing. Depending on the motherboard, all the lights can turn on and and most of the fans can spin, but if it can't POST, then it won't boot and it won't show anything on the display, hence why I am asking to know the brand and model of the motherboard. The motherboard manual will have information on POST codes.

After that, we can help you with drivers and everything. The motherboard drivers can be found on the brand's website if it didn't come with a CD, or if you don't have a CD-ROM. They will just be applications that you can run on your computer once Windows is installed.

Keep us updated.
