I hope I'm not posting this in the wrong forum - maybe I should have put this in the Windows forum. I had a strange problem and couldn't get out to internet. The Internet provider technician changed one of my cables and also changed the router. Now I can get to internet but my home LAN (someone set it up for me a long time ago) doesn't work. My computers can't see each other anymore. (The technician left before I realized I had this problem). Someone told me me how to look at "map network drive" and that shows nothing there. Also when I try to use the printer which is connected to the router it says it's "offline".

I'm running Windows 7 and the new router is a Sagemcom.
I'm sorry if I'm asking too much here - this may be too technical a problem to try to explain to me what I should do.
 
Hello, Can you post the following for me please. :)


Step 1: Reset Host File





  • Click here to download RstHosts v2.0
  • Save the file to your desktop.
  • Right Click and Run as Administrator.
  • Click on Restaurer, then click OK at the prompt.
  • This will restore the default host file.
  • Next Click on Creer Un Rapport.
  • This will open a logfile, post that in your next reply.

Step 2: MiniToolBox Scan


Please download MINITOOLBOX and run it.

Checkmark following boxes:



Flush DNS
Reset FF proxy Settings
Reset Ie Proxy Settings
Report IE Proxy Settings
Report FF Proxy Settings
List content of Hosts
List IP configuration
List Winsock Entries
List last 10 Event Viewer log
List Installed Programs
List Users, Partitions and Memory size
List Devices (problems only)



Click Go post the result.
 
Is your network pc's and printer wired or wireless?

Can you supply the model number for your new router?

Thank you everyone for your coming to help me. Everything is wired and the new router is "Sagemcom f@st5260cv".

But I ran into a friend and sort of mentioned in passing I was having computer problem. She said her husband has some computer knowledge and she called him. He asked what was happening and after I told him the problem he said he had an idea what to do and made a special trip to my home. He said the computers had to get back into a workgroup, apparently the way they had been on my old router. I didn't follow exactly what he did but when he was done he said they're in the same workgroup and now the computers see each other and also the printer.

Had my friend's husband not made the special trip to me I would have followed all of your advice. So I truly appreciate everyone's taking the time for me.
 
@Wendy glad you got it sorted. Basically what had to be done was to clone all your old routers settings to the new one including the gateway, workgroup, and dhcp etc settings. Can I suggest now it's all working to record the settings just in case you need them:)
