Solved My wifi signal drops whenever I move my laptop

Hi there. My laptop signal drops every time I move my laptop and then I'm forced to restart my laptop to get the wifi working again. Any help would be appreciated?

What is in between the computer and the source?

Is this personal WiFi or a Hot Spot?

How long has this been going on?

Are you talking about Signal Strength? Bandwidth?

no. it completely goes out

no, all of my other devices work fine with the wifi

What have you attempted to correct this?

Lets try resetting the network on the computer.

Select the Start button
Then select Settings
No select Network & Internet
Click on Status
Click on Network reset.
On the Network reset screen, select Reset now
Yes to confirm.
Wait for your PC to restart, and see if that fixes the problem.

I havent tried anything to correct this prior to posting here.
I reset the network but it didnt fix it.

but as soon as you move the laptop, wifi completely drops out?
is that as soon as you pick it up or put in down?

and this has happened for years?
and all you do once the laptop is relocated and wifi is lost is to reboot it and it all comes good until it's moved again.
how are you moving the laptop - closing the screen or literally just picking it up?

one more question (why can't I edit my previous post?).
when you move it are you taking the power cord out?

If I start up my laptop on a steady surface like a desk in my office then the wifi will work, but if I move the laptop to a table in another room then the laptop will more times than not lose the wifi.

If I lift the laptop from say my coffee table and put it literally on my lap the wifi signal will go out within a minute or so as my lap isn't a steady surface. I'm not taking the power cord out when moving the laptop to my lap.

sounds to me like there is something loose inside.
the other thought was if you were removing the power cord or shutting the lid, the laptop may have been going into a power save mode and turning off the wifi to save juice.

Nope, still having the same issue

give us the make/model of the laptop and I'll look at how easy it is to remove the back cover.
some slide, some use screws, some just pry apart.
but that would be my next suggestion, open up the back of it and look for the wifi card and check it and the antennas are connected securely.
or it could simply be a dodgy card.
if you can use a USB wireless adapter, that would narrow the potential culprits down.

to remove the underside cover on that model it should be 2 screws (opposite side of the battery) to remove then that panel slides out to left off.
there you'll find access to most of the innards.
the smallest 'hole' is where the wireless card sits, you could detach the antennas, unscrew it and remove it.
clean the contacts and reseat and re-attach everything. you may get lucky.
