Solved My New Build will only post from cold start cpu/dram alternate flashing if i try and boot from restart

Hi all
Got the following pc Build
Motherboard Model: Gigabyte B650 aorus elite AX V1.2
G-Skill Trident Neo Z5 expo DDR5-6000 / pc-4800 cl32-38-38-96
Nvidia MSI RTX 360 Ti Gaming X Trio
AMD Ryzen 5 7600X

My problem is on restart I get the CPU/DRAM LEDS Alternate flashing.
But If I do a cold start it boots ok with expo enabled at the correct speed and timings. It runs fine for days as long as I cold boot the system. But everytime I need to restart it just hangs on alternate CPU/DRAM LEDS. I then have to cold boot.
Any help would be appreciated thanks.
 

veeg No new software its an upgrade Im building a new ddr5 system​

Rustys Have the same problem from onboard graphics.​

THE PC runs fine from a cold boot with Expo enabled but as soon as I have to restart I get the Non Post flashing between CPU/Dram
And I have to power down to cold boot again it then runs fine again from cold boot.

Have just borrowed some kingston qv rated for my motherboard Fury rated at 6000 on expo 1 but still same problem
I wasnt aware the cpu was only rated at 5200 I thought all the amd 7000 could run at lease 6000mhz

5200MT/s is the fastest speed officially supported by Ryzen 7000 (as in if it can't run higher speeds than 5200MT/s you can't RMA the CPU), though in reality they support memory overclocking and can run speeds of about 6000MT/s without issue. You should just need to enable EXPO/XMP and the RAM will just work at 5600MT/s.
 
And It actually runs at Expo speed and advertised timings at 6000 MHz But only if its cold booted.

Modern RAM has two speeds, SPD (serial presence detect) and XMP or similar such as EXPO, SPD is what the BIOS detects on boot which for DDR4 for example is most often 2133MHz and XMP which when enabled will set the RAM to run at the maximum speed that it is capable of.

It is when the OC kicks in that the PC becomes unstable.

Restore the MBs default factory settings in the BIOS, they are sometimes listed as one of the following " factory defaults" "most stable" or on newer boards "optimized" please note that if you have both the "most stable" and the "optimized" options in the BIOS you should choose the most stable" option as in this instance the "optimized" settings are a form of overclocking that can cause instability.

Save the new settings, exit the BIOS, restart the computer, test by using the computer as you normally would, post back with an update once you have done this.
 
The thing is though the PC is stable at expo speeds and timings if its cold booted. The trouble starts when I restart the system.
Its just seems strange behavior.

That is because the settings are already loaded, if the hardware is disconnected from the wall socket overnight the OC settings are lost and only come back into play once Windows is running.

Humour me and do as suggested in my reply #8.
 
I have already explained the pc runs fine on default settings and the memory runs at the rated 4800.
It seems there is still are problem running EXPO despite the 2 sticks of memory being QV it just refuses
to restart with expo. DDR 5 has now been out for over a year now and EXPO is just a lottery.
It is really not ready for the market.

Something to keep in mind, a CPU must be compatible with a MB whereas the RAM has to be compatible with both the CPU and the MB, this because a MB can be compatible with faster CPUs than the one in your list of parts and MB manufacturers often state RAM speeds that far exceed what any CPU the board can handle.

As was explained already by Rustys in reply #5, the RAM is not appropriate for the CPU, this advice was supported with a link to the AMD specs here which clearly states that the maximum RAM speed supported is DDR5 5200MHz.

MB manufacturers advertising RAM speeds that no stock CPUs can support should be banned but likewise those building their own PCs should do thorough research or seek expert guidance before they go spending their cash on incompatible components.
 
Yeah thanks for all your replies, I have been building pcs since 1980 for myself due to disability to keep my brain ticking over.
You are right the manufacturers are misleading the buyers. I will just stick to the 4800 speed at least its a step up from the ddr4

You could try manually OCing the RAM to 5200MHz in the BIOS, I don`t OC myself but should be an expert the amount of times that I have helped people with this exact issue, trouble is we are not born knowing this stuff and contrary to belief most people think that the MB is the most important part in a PC when it is not, the PSU is and likewise you build a rig based around the CPU and not the MB.
