I just received a new PC for my 72nd birthday.
The new PC came with win 10 installed. I moved my profile over to it, no problem however I need to move certain programs for which I no longer have the installation disk or support has ended.

How can I install the contents of my old HDD onto the new ssd. Both installations are win 10. pro.

My old PC does not support the ssd drive so I cannot clone from there but I can attach my old drive as an external on the new PC. Just copying would not work as there will be registry entries etc. to contend with.

What would be the procedure to get this done.

I am primarily interested in getting office 2010 re-installed as I am not going cloud based.

thanks in advance for your help.

You could use Macrium Reflect Home to image the old PC, create their boot media then use redeploy to restore the image to the new PC.
Unfortunately Redeploy is not available in the trial version.

thank you for that. can i do this over the lan? new pc does not have dvd drive.

You’d download the software on the old PC then image it to an external drive, create their boot media on USB, then boot the new PC with this media & restore the image using redeploy.
If the old PC is not available & you only have the drive then I don’t know how you’ll transfer any programs.

Got it. thanks
All complete. These are the steps I took.

1. Download Macrium to the old PC then image it to an external drive
2. Created boot media on USB drive as per your advice.
3. Download Macrium to the New PC then imaged it to an external drive so I have a clean copy.
4. Rebooted to thumb drive. - Needed to set this in bios.
5. Installed image of old PC
6. Verify OK.
7. Thank PCHelpForum, particularly Bastet.

Thank you for your help.

I have another problem where I only see the monitor attached to the video card and not the two on the motherboard but I will open that as a new thread.
