hello, i'm currently using hp laptop with win 10 OS.
when i tried to double-click using my mouse the clicked files suddenly got deleted. this only seems to wor on mouse however, since using my touchpad doesn't trigger the same effect. i wonder what could be causing the problem. i've tried scanning my pc for viruses and malware and found nothing. updating the mouse's driver only work for a couple of minutes, and then the problem returned.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

While waiting for others to chime in try...

Check the mouse settings in the Control Panel?

Have you tried a different mouse and uninstall the software plus remove the references for the mouse out of the Device Driver?
Reboot the system and allow the mouse to be discovered by windows and see if the same thing happens.

Have you tried different ports?

Unfortunately this issue is not so uncommon with windows 10, As per Rustys advice remove your mouse driver and reboot. If that doesn't help try another mouse. And also have a good look at your keyboard and carefully try all keys, making sure none are stuck or not returning properly.
