Hi everyone, new here and hope you can all help.

I have this annoying issue where after I play games my screen loses signal and computer seems to completely crash. So much so pressing the caps lock/number lock keys on my keyboard won't work. I have to hold the power button on my system to get it working again and it works fine till I play and exit a game again. This happens about 10 minutes after exiting a game.

This all started about 6 months ago when I went out one day, put my system to sleep and came home to wake my system up and it would not detect my monitor at all. When this happened I even swapped out HDMI cables and it would not detect the screen. The system suddenly started working again two days later with the original cable but now has these annoying crashes. 6 months ago these crashes would initially happen 10 minutes after booting the system up, almost everyday and then work fine once the initial crash took place.

I did discover that the SSD my OS was installed on was dying and once I found this out I reinstalled Windows on a new healthy SSD. The dying SSD is still in my system but no longer used.

My specs are
Ryzen 5 3600
Gigabyte x570i Pro Wifi
Kingston hyperx fury RAM 2 x 8gb
msi nvidia rtx 2080 super
Corsair 750w PSU
I have 3 SSDs and one HDD in my system

Welcome to PCHF,

Have you tried using a different screen, a TV that has the appropriate video port will do.

What speed is the RAM.

What is the model name or number and age of the Corsair PSU.

What o you have the Windows Power Plan set as.

Thank you for the welcome

The system is currently hooked up to my bedroom TV but I did try it on the living room and the same thing happened.

The RAM is DDR4 3200.

The PSU is a Corsair SF750 80 Plus Platinum and is about 2 and a half years old.

The power plan is currently set to high performance.

Screen effectively ruled out, the ideal spec of RAM for the CPU and a great quality and adequate spec PSU, this looks bad for the GPU itself, the fact that you get and can see the No Signal message on the screen supports a GPU issue.

If not done already, reseat the RAM and the GPU and check that all modular connections to and from the PSU are secure at both ends, be careful when applying any pressure to the connections on the MB and GPU.

The power plan is currently set to high performance.

Change the Windows Power Plan to Balanced, Ultra and High Performance are a form of overclocking that is known to cause stability and overheating issues, the setting should only be used for gaming type notebooks that have a discrete GPU that needs the extra power.

I did discover that the SSD my OS was installed on was dying and once I found this out I reinstalled Windows on a new healthy SSD.

After clean installing Windows did you install the system drivers for the MB and starting with the chipset drivers first, SATA/storage drivers second and then the GPU drivers, this is a 100% must do.

Before replying can you do the below first;

Download MiniToolBox and save the file to the Desktop.

Close the browser and run the tool, check the following options;

List last 10 Event Viewer Errors
List Installed Programs
List Devices (Only Problems)
List Users, Partitions and Memory size

Click on Go.

Post the resulting log in your next reply for us if you will.

You are welcome btw :)

Ok so, I've checked all the connections and they all seem to be firmly connected, I've removed my RAM, gave it a clean off incase of any dust on the pins and reconnected.

I've changed the power plan to balanced.

I'm not 100% about the drivers, I did install AMD chipset drivers but I noticed they seemed to make my system more unstable? I've given them a go a few times but always seemed to make it more unstable.

If it is any help in diagnosing the problem, when it started 6 months ago and the pc would not detect my screen at all, the pc was working fine. As in, I would turn the pc on and I could log on. I knew I could successfully log on as when I do my mouse always changes colour to what I have it set to in the Razer software and it always did so, it just wouldn't show an image. I can also confirm that the fans on the GPU continue to spin during a crash, both now and then.

I have included below the information from the software that you requested.

**** End of log ****

Did you remove and clean the gold finger on the GPU like you did with the RAM.

There are a couple of things going on there but there is one in particular, iCUE5 Software is causing major problems, what do you use it for.

Another major issue is that the Windows 11 OS is what we call a lazy install, what this means, it was not done properly, how it should have been done is explained in my canned info below;

Once Windows has been clean installed you must then install first the MBs chipset drivers then the storage/SATA drivers and third the graphics drivers, the drivers can either come from a disk provided by the motherboard manufacturer or downloaded from their site and saved to a flash drive etc, this is a must and Windows should not be allowed to check for updates before it has been done as more often than not Windows installs the wrong drivers or in the incorrect order and this can cause all sorts of problems.

The reason why this procedure is so important, the chipset is what enables the MB to be able to communicate with all the hardware + are the first drivers that Windows looks for on boot.

Two things that you need to do asap, remove that flaky drive and disable fast boot and secure boot in the BIOS, the latter is causing you problems with the trusted platform module ( TPM ) and this down to the initial new OS install not being done correctly.

Windows 11 itself and Nvidea drivers are also flagged up.

Tip, always uninstall no longer used software, example, you have patriot software installed but there is no patriot hardware present, stuff like that and Razer software in general are a pain in the proverbial.

Sorry should have included that in the post, yes I did the same for the GPU.

Corsair iCUE is used for my H100i liquid cooler for the RGB and fan curve.

I'll get rid of the drive. Fast boot and secure boot are both disabled already. I disabled fast boot when I found out having it on means the PC never really fully turns off.

What do you recommend regarding Windows? Regarding Nvidia I've tried DDU'ing multiple times and installing older drivers to fix my issue but it didn't change anything.

I'm not sure how the patriot stuff got there but I'll get rid of it. The Razer software is also for my mouse.

What we are doing atm is going through a tick sheet in an attempt to try and isolate the cause but just so you know it may take a clean install of Windows and the system drivers being done correctly to correct this, as you can see in the MTB log the ICue software and the Windows TPM drivers are causing you major grief, you should also see the below which clarifies Windows crashing and a computers hardware misbehaving.

I have this annoying issue where after I play games my screen loses signal and computer seems to completely crash

Software such as Windows can crash and when it does crash you get a BSOD and when enabled a crash dmp is generated, programs or games when they crash can on occasion close to the desktop but the computer will still be 100% functional.

Hardware failure such as a weak power supply and/or overheating are not software related and when a computer for example suddenly turns off, freezes or the screen goes black etc the behaviour should be described as the "computer shut down unexpectedly" or froze etc and not as having crashed as the latter implies a software issue as opposed to an obvious hardware issue when described properly.

Having the correct info means that helpers will not be looking for a software issue when the problem is clearly hardware related.

Unless an issue is recurring crash dmps more than a couple of days old are of no use I`m afraid, this because updates are constantly being released to address known issues and the issue that you have been having may well have been fixed by a recent update, if we do see the same cause days or weeks etc later we know that the issue has not been fixed so needs investigation.

1. Copy any dmp files from C:\Windows\Minidump onto the desktop.
2. Select all of them, right-click on one, and click on Send To> New Compressed (zipped) Folder.
3. Upload the zip folder using the Attach button, bottom left of the dialogue input box

I will also mention that what you describe happening is not a BSOD.

Did you follow the exact steps that were provided.

I took a look at your link and what was there was not crash dmps.

No rush on my behalf as I've done all day on the forums and need to call it a day now as Im back in work early doors tomorrow

Very strange as the folder shows 9 .DMP files for me. I followed your instructions word for word.

I have uploaded them individually. Strangely, upon doing so I am getting an error that some files are empty and some are too large. I will include the ones it will let me attach.

Have looked at the dmps but have been waiting to see if you had any further problems before going into detail on them, will give you a brief description so that the thread can be marked and closed if you don`t come back.

You have been having problems caused by Nvidea drivers for months, one in mid September was caused by Corsair cpuz drivers and the latest one on October 1st was caused by Nvidea drivers, odd as it may seem the problem could have just been the GPU was not seated properly which could cause a problem with power related drivers.

It happened again yesterday while playing a game but did not produce a dump file. I have been looking in the reliability monitor regarding the 24th September crash and it states multiple hardware errors at the time of the crash. In fact October 1st shows A LOT of hardware errors, though it doesn't state a hardware error everytime it has happened. I think I'm pretty sure at this point that Corsair iCUE is one of the main problems, but as I use it for my liquid cooler fan curve I am dubious about getting rid of it, even though I want to. Are there any better, alterative software I can for the fan curve? Could this just be Corsair iCUE is interfering with my graphics drivers?

I was on the game menu at the time, I had just gone into the kitchen to do something so didn't actually catch it going off and came back to the no signal screen and keyboard, mouse etc unresponsive as usual. However if it did the same as it normally would then first the sound would have cut out and then the picture. Sometimes if in a game it will get very laggy and drop a lot of FPS as well. Sorry if that isn't very helpful.

No worries as the above rules out a Windows issue.

As a starting point, uninstall the problematic ICue software, restart the PC but don`t do any gaming, use the computer like you were when this latest episode occured to see what happens, while doing this keep a check on the temps and the cooling fan noise.

The latest episode did occur during a gaming session yesterday though. Or at least in the main menu options.

I will note that since you gave the previous advice of what to do to my system it seems to be running cooler, particularly the processor which which was idling in the high 40s to low 50s and now idles in the high 30s to low 40s.
