Hello,
I have a Dell Inspiron 15 3511 with an Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1035G1 CPU @ 1.00GHz 8GB memory and a 256GB SSD.
I also have a (TUF Gaming) ASUS VG34VQL1B 34" 2K UWQHD (3440 x 1440) 165Hz UltraWide Curved Screen Gaming Monitor.
When I attach the HDMI cord to the monitor and go into display settings, the best setting I am given is 1920*1080.
When I plug my GF's computer in, the option has changed from 1920*1080 to 3440*1440.

What hardware/software/anything do I need to add to my computer to be able to have it run at that pixelation? I don't need a super fast refresh rate, but I do need the detail.
I am trying to play many, many, many tables of online poker and hate overlap.

If there is anything else you guys need to know please let me know.

Because the video is provided on die from the CPU you need to check what the CPUs HD video is capable of, in this instance it is the below;

Max Resolution (HDMI)‡
4096 x 2304@60Hz

Max Resolution (DP)‡
5120 x 3200@60Hz

Max Resolution (eDP - Integrated Flat Panel)‡
5120 x 3200@60Hz

Reducing the ASUS screens refresh rate to 60Hz is the only way that can make any difference according to the CPU specs here
 
Okay, I am about to try it out... But, from what you are saying, if I limit the ASUS to 60hertz, then the computer should be able to handle the increased pixelation? Any benefit to lowering the refresh rate to slower than 60?

I have limited the monitor to 60Hz. I have tried to tinker with things the best I know how, and yet, still no option to go to 2k.
I have checked my drivers and they are up to date.
Any other suggestions?

Noticed the below at your Dell Inspiron 3511 notebook specs page here;

**HDMI 1.4 (Maximum resolution supported over HDMI is 1920x1080 @60Hz. No 4K/2K output)

You have it officially from Dell, the limited display capabilities are normal and cannot be improved upon.
