today I did a general search on google chrome looking for info on a newscaster on WCCO. I chose a link from the results and a page came up that said minnonecounters couldn't be found. I never heard of this minnonecounters.com, so I clicked out of it, but after that kept getting a notification popping up every ten seconds or so saying I have a trojan virus, and my computer is infected, and to click a button to scan and remove said virus from my PC. I have not clicked this button and instead ran virus scans with windows defender which says everything is clean. I tried to reset my PC with a restore point from two days ago but that did not work either. Still get the thing popping up and it says something a bit different each time, but generally tells me to fix by clicking the button to fix via McAfee and microsoft edge. I tried searching this minnonecounters.com, and have found it to be a newly registered domain, but don't know what to do with that information. I did try to call a phone number associated with this domain and it is not a phone number, but rather a fax number. Don't know what the heck is going on, but I refuse to click that button, but really want to get rid of this crap. What should I do. I am posting this on another computer. I can use the infected one but am kind of afraid to, and the constant pop up notification is sooo annoying, and scary. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

@flipppper Welcome to PCHF :)

Please download the FRST 32 bit or FRST 64bit version to suit your operating system. It is important FRST is downloaded to your desktop.
If you are unsure if your operating system is 32 or 64 Bit please go HERE.
Once downloaded right click the FRST desktop icon and select "Run as administrator" from the menu
If you receive any security warnings, or the User Account Control warning opens at any time whilst using FRST you can safely allow FRST to proceed.
FRST will open with two dialogue boxes, accept the disclaimer.
  1. Accept the default whitelist options,
  2. If the additions.txt options box is not checked please select it.
  3. Then select Scan
  4. Frst will take a few minutes to scan your computer, and when finished will produce two log files on your desktop, FRST.txt, and Addition.txt. They will display immediately on the desktop, but can be reopened later as a notepad file.

Ok, you can run the tool and see if anything remains, or I can close this thread. Can you tell us how you solved it?
