Hello, I am brand-new to this forum and I am hoping somebody will be able to tell me how to fix my problems. My Windows 10 just went through a major update and now I am having problems with Microsoft Edge. I don't use the program, but it appears there is no way I can uninstall it because it was installed with a Windows update. My problem with it is that when I am in my Microsoft outlook and I receive a message and I want to open it up in my web browser it opens up to a page of line after line of regular letters and numbers. If there was a way I could attach a file I could show you what I mean. I don't have Microsoft edge as my default browser I am using Firefox right now. I am sure I have people confused by now. The only time I have the problem is when I am in Microsoft outlook and click on the message

If there is a problem with how the message is displayed quick here to view it in a web browser.

It takes me to a page that is just all letters numbers and other characters. I have no idea how to fix the problem.
Thank you very much.
Raymond

Hello

You can go to Windows system when you hit the start button, in that line you will see control panel. You go to programs and features find Microsoft Edge. From there you can un-install it.. One thing tho if you un-install Edge your updates for Win 10 may be interrupted.

thank you for the reply, but Microsoft edge cannot be removed that way. All that will let you do is change the features or one a repair. From what I have read on the Internet because Microsoft edge was installed during a Windows update it cannot be uninstalled. It probably won't help, but I am attaching a copy of what I get when I click on the link in Microsoft outlook.

You can stop EDGE from connecting to the internet.

Web Version of Outlook and or Program and what version.

Let's make sure that Windows is showing the Browser that you want to use.

Click start
Settings
Select Applications
On the right Default Apps
If it shows Microsoft Edge, then select that and change it.

Next place to look is on the same page scroll down and find

Set Defaults by app
Find Firefox on the list and select it and Click on Manage
Anything there showing Microsoft Edge click it and change it to Firefox

Thank you very much for the idea, but it did not work. The only problem I have is when I click on the link listed below in Microsoft outlook. Firefox comes up as my default browser when I tried to do anything else besides clicking on the link below. It always comes up with the same problem that I attached a copy of to a previous message. If you didn't see the attachment when I click on the link it brings me to a page that says click here to make Mike's soft edge your default program. Then below it is a whole page flow of ASCII characters. It's like they cannot load the page in HTML. I tried clicking on the tab to make Microsoft edge my default and I did not help at all. I hope you understand what I am trying to say here. I don't think it is a problem with edge trying to get on the Internet. In my thinking {which is probably wrong} Microsoft edge does not know how to open pages in HTML when they are opened by me clicking on the below link.

If there is a problem with how this message is displayed click here to view it in a web browser

The programs I am using our Windows 10 Microsoft office 2016. I hope that helps.

Thanks again and hopefully somebody will be able to come up with an idea of what my problem is.

When you use Edge and got to a web site does it open them correctly?

Does this happen with any site and it just the ones in your email?
Any Links or just them ones that state
My problem with it is that when I am in my Microsoft outlook and I receive a message and I want to open it up in my web browser it opens up to a page of line after line of regular letters and numbers.

Two thing that can be done is reset Edge or if that did not correct it an in place Reinstall of Edge.

Reset
Open Edge
Click the three vertical dot in the upper corner
Select Settings
On the right select Reset Settings
Select on the left Restore settings to their Default Values

Install
Start
Settings
Select Appa and wait for it to finish loading
Find Microsoft Edge and select that
Click on Modify
If the User Account Control appears click Yes
Click Repair when the Repair Microsoft Edges come up

If you were to open your email from Firefox dose the same issue happens?

There has been a new release for Edge that should correct this. Seen on other forums that other have stated that is has corrected launch and other issues as such for them.

Version affected Edge 105.0.1343.25
New Version Edge 105.0.1343.27
