  • Hello everyone We want to personally apologize to everyone for the downtime that we've experienced. We are working to get everything back up as quickly as possible. Due to the issues we've had, your password will need to be reset. Please click the button that says "Forgot Your Password" and change it. We are working to have things back to normal. Emails are fixed and should now send properly. Thank you all for your patience. Thanks, PCHF Management

I got a program called Lock-a-Folder which lets you encrypt folders within your computer. Unfortunately I lost my password, and the company no longer seems to exist--their support email (support@lockafolder.com) goes nowhere. I'm afraid it might make it worse if I just uninstall the program. Any suggestions?

Did you create the recommended password hint?
Do you have a system image backup in order to restore the file to its unencrypted state?
As the program only goes up to Windows 7 I’d say it’s no longer supported By the devs.

obviously remembering your password would be the best way forward.
but you have discovered the inherit flaw with all these type of programs, be it password keepers or encryption software. there is no 'get out of jail' card like there is with PC logins, or email passwords, or online accounts, that have a 'forgot password' process.

do you have a backup of the folder before it was encrypted?
how many folders are we talking?
and how important is the lost data?
