Hey everyone,
I thought I would start this thread off detailing how we got into Linux as a daily driver instead of Windows or macOS.
I started off with Windows since I was a child. As I got older, I found that Windows became more bloated and more privacy invasive with every update. I wanted my privacy back. I started off in the Linux world with Pop! OS. At the time, it was rave about for gaming and stability. I liked Pop! OS and still do. I even tried Bazzite as it was stable but I ran into an issue where it would never receive updates and eventually the bootloader got corrupted.
I went through various distros before finally settling on openSUSE Tumbleweed. I've always liked rolling releases but hated the instability of Arch-based distros. I tried CachyOS and loved it but it corrupted my XFS partition with a bad update and no way to recover the inodes. I've been on Tumbleweed for a while now and can honestly say it's been rock solid and haven't had any issues. And if I do run into an issue, a simple Snapper rollback and it's as if it never happened. It definitely does not get enough attention as a distro but it's the most stable rolling release I've ever encountered.
What are your guys distro of choice as a daily driver? What made you choose it?
