my laptop goes to sleep then wont wake up unless I hold power button for 10 seconds to restart. Before I would press the power button or mouse and it would wake, now it just does nothing.

I tried everything here to fix it and no joy: Microsoft suggested fixes

Any ideas? And it's my gf's laptop and my gf blames me because I often leave the laptop on and running on battery, but the battery is fine and laptop power settings say sleep after 25 mins etc, it's not a battery problem. If you could tell her if it's my fault, that would help us stop arguing :)

My power settings are on balanced (recommended)

There is no discreet GPU only Intel HD video so that is the correct setting.

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

The first thing I would try is turn off hibernation - Test

How to make hibernation unavailable

  1. Press the Windows button on the keyboard to open Start menu or Start screen.
  2. Search for cmd. In the search results list, right-click Command Prompt, and then select Run as Administrator.
  3. When you are prompted by User Account Control, select Continue.
  4. At the command prompt, type powercfg.exe /hibernate off, and then press Enter.
  5. Type exit, and then press Enter to close the Command Prompt window.

I did this, but no change.

What is the make and model of the laptop?

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Display drivers?

Go into the power setting and what is listed and checked under Shutdown Settings?

Have you tried a clean boot to see what may be causing the issue?

When you manually put the system to sleep and then wake it does the same happen?

Here is one issue that I see.

Partition 1
Partition ID: Disk #0, Partition #1
Disk Letter: C:
File System: NTFS
Volume Serial Number: 0A5DD32F
Size: 56 GB
Used Space: 50 GB (89%)
Free Space: 6.17 GB (11%)

Windows 10 requires 32 GB free space for updates 7-10 GB reserved for future proofing on the C drive.

Open an Admin Command Prompt
Type or copy and paste the following command and post the results.
Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.19044.2006]
(c) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

C:\WINDOWS\system32>Compact.exe /CompactOS:query
The system is in the Compact state. It will remain in this state unless an
administrator changes it.

C:\WINDOWS\system32>

They have already compacted the OS to work on that system and keeping the system clear of clutter as much as you can you are going to have issues.
