lagging after adding os to new ssd

Hello, so I'm not a computer savy person but like to play games and I just upgraded power supply from 650 non modular to corsair rm850 modular and had a new 4t hard drive installed as well as a new 1tb samsung 870 evo ssd where we moved my os to and after turning on pc everything seemed to be great at start up lightening fast start up and log in but now every game on my pc lags even low bit ones my son plays. I have an evga geforce rtx 2070 gpu which shows to be running fine with no issues and even reinstalled the nvidia update after already was previously installed up to date and nothing changed uninstalled the game im currently playing from the ssd where my back up was sent to with my os and everything else and reinstalled it to my new 4t hdd and still lagging. even powered down removed the 2070 gpu and plugged back in to make sure nothing got bumped or jiggled during the modification adds but now its as if nothing is wrong that i can find except my son and i and play games due to the lagging and tried a couple things people posted on youtube like regedit thingy and changing some things to 0 instead of what 1 or 2 may have been there and still the same...need smart computer people to help a dumb computer person like me figure out what the heck happened. lol...
