Hello Forum Community,

Thank you in advance for your help.

I have two external hard disks. The model number is MS35U3. Here is a link to a youtube video of the product
(The video is not mine)

One of the drives is dead and cannot receive power. I am wondering if I can switch out the pcb board with the working
drive (it comes off easily with Torx drivers). I know this is risky, but the donor drive is empty and it is just an experiment;
no important data is at risk.

Thank you for your insight.

Best regards,
JDF

worst case - you end up with two dead drives.
sounds like there is no data to worry about - so go for it.

if you were trying to get the drive working to recover data then it's a worth while exercise, otherwise with HDD's being so cheap, I wouldn't even be bothering with what you are doing. :)

it would be a good little project none the less!

Thanks everyone. I am going to do the project this weekend and I will post about the results here.
