Problem: the QWERUIOP and Windows keys don't work on my computer (old, simple, cheap, Lenovo)

Important information: Even in the BIOS menu options, the keys don't work. An external keyboard plugged into the laptop works fine.

Other information: Started after walking around half a day with my laptop in a cramped backpack. Ubuntu Linux, technically minded and capable, little experience, few tools.

Did water get on the keyboard? If your laptop from Thinkpad T series there is no problem to replace it, but first of all, I would try to remove the keyboard, clean the cable with alcohol and insert it back.

It's a Lenovo Notebook V145 - AMD A4-9125 4/8GB SSD256 DVD 15.6" and the keyboard isn't removable like that. I don't think I got any water on it, probably just compressed between clothes and whatnot.
 
The keyboard will be 100% replaceable, it just varies per make/model.
Last time I had to get a new laptop keyboard, many moons ago, can't remember the brand, but cost $120.

I will try that! Thanks for the video too. I might try that when I have the tools and space, though the laptop isn't worth $120 now if that's the cost of a replacement keyboard
