All of a sudden my keyboard has gone crazy..keys work sometime like double letter words ...only one leter will print.se- lok bas- backspace will only go back i space.
.enter key wporks off and on....sometimes you can hit the key several times and it wil print but not always...the arrow keys only move one space in any direction..

I use a medium size keyboard ....Logitech630.....and mouse....they were getting old so got a new one but that is not the answer.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You;

so what is the make/model of the new keyboard?
wireless or USB?
if wireless, I assume you have changed the batteries (use alkaline not rechargeable) and the receiver dongle has line of sight with the keyboard?

does the issue also happen with the dodgy keyboard in another PC?
boot the PC into Safe Mode and see if it still occurs.

Well,guess it was cyber gobblins were playing around in computer as both keyboards are working fine...but found another problem while trying to solve this one..I tried rebooting insafe mode and it kept coming loading windows...I tried four times by holding f8 key down from shut down and continuously pressing f8 key then same twice from restart on start menu...always came back to windows...I the basic menu pop up for a second in upper left hand screen forjust a second...it seems that starting my computer several times could have fixed keyboard problem??

If I have to go to another forum on this one just let me know...

Thank You;

so the PC boots fine if you don't try to enter Safe Mode?
and when booted, the keyboard is now good?

Safe Mode is the boot method that is almost 100% guaranteed to get past issues and allow troubleshooting.
for it to be failing you have other, maybe bigger issues. I'd be doing a repair install on Win7 or even taking the opportunity to upgrade to Win10, which will be free for you.

but if you can boot normally, you could use chkdsk to check for disk errors and sfc /scannow to check for system file corruption.

thanks for come back....
yes..reboots fine and keyboard is working working,but still can't reboot in safe mode..
1:do i send you the chkdsk and sfc/scanner???
2: how is win 10 free to me...I really didn't casre for win10 when I tried it a year or so ago,.. but can learn to live with it...

with the chskdsk and sfc commands, just do them on your PC and if they find issues, they will try to fix them.
start an elevated command prompt and type each command separately.

chkdsk c: /r
sfc /scannow

the upgrade to Win10 from Win7 and Win8 is still free, despite the first year offer long expiring.
MS has allowed it for users with accessibility issues so in other words, everyone's still doing it.
during the Win10 install, it'll ask for the Product Key, you type in your Win7 one.

of course if you don't like Win10, I'd still consider a repair or fresh re-install of Win7 if Safe Mode access is a concern.
you hardly ever need to use it, but if you did it's handy to have.
but for me the bigger concern would be, is lack of Safe Mode access just the tip of the iceberg - is something else happening I'm not yet aware of?

OK..ran both programs...can still boot ok..keyboard is working fine...BUT..still cannot reboot in safe mode...even went to run and did as explained below..showed upjust like a reboot but nothing would work..so went back and changed to reboot normal..also can not do system restore..this has been going on for sometime too..forgot to tell you that one..
Thought would just run it until it stopped but then may not be able to get win10 installed....I guess just download from Microsoft??
You can close this one out...thanks for all the help..

I tend to agree... the effort to fix has to be worth any benefit and if you don't care about Restore Points (never used them, first thing I turn off) and reckon you can live without Safe Mode then there should be no reason you can't just keep using the PC as is and kill all those birds with the next bullet when something bigger happens.

mind you, I'd be curious as all hell that I'm only seeing the tip of some MS iceberg and I'd be itching to reload Windows from scratch.
but that's just me... :)
