Hi everyone. I'm not sure exactly what forum section to put this in, but it basically involves trying to boot some bootable ISO's to a laptop and it not working properly.

So i have a Dell Precision M3800 that i'm trying to get to boot Hiren's Boot CD with a multiboot installer such as YUMI or Ventoy.
I already confirmed the Hiren's ISO is ok by booting it to a Virtualbox VM and it boots fine.
The laptop has an MBR partitioning setup, and i've already turned off secure boot, TPM, and set booting to Legacy instead of UEFI.

Now I know that YUMI basically uses Ventoy now, so it's the same thing. But i've tried using both YUMI and Ventoy to try to boot to Hiren's, but it won't boot past the boot mode selection.
I can boot to the USB's, and i can go through the selection menu to pick the Hiren's ISO, but when it gets to the boot mode selection and pick "Boot to normal mode" it just flashes black real quick and then freezes on the boot selection screen.

I'm trying to figure out if this is because Ventoy/YUMI format the flash drives with exFAT and UEFI and that's conflicting with the laptops MBR partitioning or something.
Can anyone confirm if this is the problem or if it's something else, and how to resolve it?

Are you sure? I have used Ventoy on multiple machines over the last 3 years and the main problem I have ran into with it booting is the secure boot/fast boot/TPM/Legacy boot (dependent on the BIOS/UEFI)
The other is the security certificate issue.
What error are you seeing or what happens when you try to boot from Ventoy?

Do you have a backup of the drive? If so, you could convert it to GPT without deleting the files or partitions, if you decide that's the issue.

Basically, it goes to the boot mode selection (Normal mode vs wimboot, etc). Once i select Normal mode, it flashes to a black screen, then back to the boot selection and just freezes there.

And i actually found the solution while tinkering after hearing some suggestions.

My laptop is MBR/Legacy partitioned, so I would select the USB Legacy boot option whenever I went to the boot selection.
Well i tried the UEFI USB option for giggles and after that, bootable media would finally boot after the Ventoy/YUMI boot mode selection screen.

So for whatever reason, it doesn't matter if your system is MBR partitioned. YUMI/Ventoy apparently need to be boot via UEFI in order to function properly.
