Hello robita233 and welcome to PCHF!

As long as you get a laptop size(2.5") Sata Hard Drive, it will work.

The one you have linked should work without issue.

The main things to be concerned about are storage size, RPM, and stability.

I personally like to suggest a Toshiba Laptop Hard Drive to my clients. The reason why I suggest them is simply because I see them the least when it comes to bad hard drives.

Hello, that's what I wanted to know, I thought you may need to find one that is specifically for your laptop, I am fine with the one I choose above,I heard it's pretty good, thank you for all of your help, NEXT time I will need help I know where to ask!

Hello again, some other people on another site said it may be just a THIN HDD fit,the photo I provided you in the beginning, on my old HDD, it said it is a THIN one, but could it just be for THIN HDD or could it fit normal ones? I searched my laptop online ( on the sticker it has stocked on it it says dell Inspiron 15 300 series) and came onto this site : http://accessories.ap.dell.com/sna/...aspx?c=my&l=en&s=bsd&cs=mybsd1&mfgpid=6085297

Could you look it up for me and tell me if it is just a THIN HDD fit? I am confused ...

That is just part of the hard drive model name. It says thin because compared to a normal hard drive it is thinner. A typical hard drive is 3.5" where as a laptop hard drive is 2.5" .

I looked up the model of your old drive and found this one(very similar) - https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822178125

As you can see in the product description it also mentions 2.5" .:)

I know I know, pc ones are bigger, but I wanted to really know of that one I provided link for would work, because it mentions it is 2.5 inches. My question Is, what if my laptop supports only 7mm as someone said, and the one I gave you link of is 9mm? Can that be the case too?

That is where the standards come into play. All laptop hard drives are 2.5" The one you mentioned above will work fine in your laptop.

You're welcome, I am always glad to be of assistance.

Waaait, now another dude said on other forum that it is not a THIN one because it is 1tb so that means it won't work? Why doesn't dell put some info like THIS LAPTOP CAN HAVE THIN HDD NOLRMAL HDD 7 MM ONE AND 9MM ONE so everyone knows... Why should anyone go through such stress just because it may not fit....

Okay so my laptop is EXACTLY DELL Inspiron 15 3000 series 3543.

Someone said it only fits 7mm HDD, but the one I bought is 9.5mm

Is that true? Have I bought the wrong one?

Read this link HERE it explains about the various thicknesses of 2.5 inch drives including 7mm, 9.5mm, and 12.5mm. Basically the more platters contained within the drive the thicker it has to be.

The 9.5mm drive you linked to may or may not fit in place of the old 7mm thick drive. Probably not.

It looks like the standard 9.5 mm HDD will not fit, only a 7 mm HDD is suppose to fit.
