Hello! I am experiencing a weird issue with Internet connection stability whenever one of my desktop PC’s connect to my local WiFi. When this PC accesses the WiFi, connection stability is nonexistent – websites either load for 30 seconds or do not load at all, lag in video games increases and so on, the connection never reaches it top speed regardless if there is any internet activity on the culprit desktop or not. This stops immediately when the PC logs off the WiFi.

I have tried:

  • Giving permanent IP to that desktop in the local network - failed
  • Using custom DNS servers on that desktop - failed
  • Removing the router and connecting directly with the modem WiFi – failed, this was the providers tech support suggestion. After that I requested them to turn on the bridge mode on the modem and connected the router again.
  • Bought a WiFI extender (someone suggested that the WIFi connection for that device is too weak – the PC is metres away from the router)
None helped.

The network:

  • Modem: Technicolor CGA2121
  • Router: TP-Link Archer AX10 AX1500 WiFi 6 router
  • 1 desktop with Win 7 (WiFi connected)
  • 1 desktop win Win 10 – the culprit (WiFi connected)
  • 2 laptops with Win 10 – (WiFi)
  • 2 smartphones (WiFi)
  • 1 smart TV (Ethernet)
What could I possibly do to fix or at least locate the cause of this problem? This has been going on for months now and I have no idea what to do.

I highly suggest going thru this guide.
The first step creates a restore point, so you can revert back if you want. It not only speeds up the internet connection, it will stabilize it as well.
