hey so this is a seagate baracude 1000gb 7200rpm drive Model# st1000dm003. So i used a sata cable which i confirmed is working on another drive.

The hard drive appears in disk management and device manager but does not in the bios.

when i try and initialize i get an i/o device error any idea if i can use this drive or is it a mechanical error and i should just throw it out?

This drive since Disk 3 is showing as 3.86GB

Where was the drive purchased form?

Let's see what Crystal Disk Info show us for that drive as well.
Download the ZIP version and uncompress that way there is nothing to install.
Post a screen shot showing that drive.

Might also look here if you have not already.

The next two are reversable.

Use diskpart to wipe the drive and zero it out.

Another thing that you can try is disconnect all the drives except the one with the OS on it and see if the same thing happens.

This is what im getting so far. I also noticed the drive beeps when turning on the pc. Im thinking its a head crash from the hard drive.

Have to agree there is an issue with the drive if new one of the box take it back and get a new one.

If used, then scrap it and get a replacement. Preferably an USB one.
