Hi,

I'm fairly new to the gaming world and I'm looking into the options of buying a gaming PC (in the UK).
Ideally I would like to link one up to my 4K TV monitor via HDMI (to save space and money of buying a monitor, desk etc). The type of games I'm interested in playing are Rust, Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo. What sort of spec would I be looking for? Also not to sound too girly or anything but I'd like it to look aesthetically pleasing where possible too haha (RGB colours etc?). My ideal budget is between £500 - £750 but obviously the cheaper the better. Any suggestions or advice would be great!
Many thanks,

Laura.

Rust (minimum)
  • Memory:8 GB
  • Graphics Card:AMD Radeon R9 280
  • CPU:Intel Core i7-3770
  • File Size:20 GB
  • OS:Windows 7 64bit

Rust (recommended)
  • Memory:16 GB
  • Graphics Card:AMD Radeon R9 Fury
  • Rust CPU:AMD Ryzen 5 1600
  • File Size:20 GB
  • OS:Windows 10 64bit

Planet Zoo (minimum)
  • Memory:8 GB
  • Graphics Card:NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 (2GB) / AMD Radeon R9 270X (2GB)
  • CPU:Intel i5-2500 / AMD FX-6350
  • File Size:16 GB
  • OS:Windows 7 (SP1+)/8.1/10 64bit

Planet Zoo (recommended)
  • Memory:16 GB
  • Graphics Card:NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 (8GB) or AMD Radeon RX 580 (8GB)
  • CPU:Intel i7-4770k / AMD Ryzen 5 1600
  • File Size: 16 GB
  • OS:Windows 10 64bit

Welcome to PCHF Laura,

You will get a better build if you purchase the parts separately and either assemble them yourself or ask someone you know and trust.

£750 should get you an AMD platform build but not an Intel, £500 unfortunately will get you neither.

Couple of links for you to look at here and here

Please note that when you do your own build you need to allow circa £100 for Windows 10.

Thank you for your reply. I think I'm looking at a CPU of R5 3600 and the ASUS ROG B450-F Motherboard but I'm really stuck on what graphics card to get?
The game Rust recommends the AMD R9 Fury (4GB) which I presume is more powerful than the GTX 1070 (8GB) or AMD Radeon RX 580 (8GB) which the game Planet Zoo recommends?
My friend has mentioned the GTX 1070 isn't really produced much now so to look at the GTX 1660? But he isn't familiar with AMD so I'm stuck on what is best and whether these are comparable to the R9 Fury?

I'm also using pcpartpicker to check the compatibility of things which has helped.
Many thanks,

Laura

On this website (https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/radeon-r9-fury.c2736) it seems to suggest that in order of least performance to highest performance the GPUs would be...
1) RX 580
2)R9 Fury
3) GTX 1660
4) GTX 1070

Would that be correct? Comparing them on UserBenchmark seems to suggest otherwise on the FPS in games? Adding to my confusion haha.
(Totally expecting to go over my £750 budget)

The 1070 comes out on top but if me I would opt for the 1660, the R9 Fury I would not consider.

See benchmarks here

You are welcome btw :)
