Hi,

I have a few custom-built applications that must run continuously (24/7).

Currently, I’m using dedicated laptops for each application, but this setup takes up too much space and isn’t practical in the long run.

I’m exploring alternatives to replace the multiple laptops—perhaps a desktop where I can run various sessions independently for each application.

Please recommend the best option (desktop/operating system) and suggest any software required to manage individual sessions?

Thanks!

Have you thought about a Virtual Machine.
Software like Oracle VirtualBox, or VMWare Workstation Player, and if you have a Pro version of Windows, there is Hyper-V already built-in.

That's what I was thinking too... what kind of machine should I buy to support the Hyper V (usually new windows are pro versions)

Most PC's will run VM software, I've used both those suggested programs on some very old rigs without issue.
I can't quite remember why, but I didn't stick with using Hyper-V for some reason, ended up using Oracle.
Not that it matters in the end, give a few a spin and see what fits your needs best.
And yes, you'll need a Pro version of Win10 or Win11 to be able to use Hyper-V.

Found this article on Hyper-V if you go down that path; https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/virtualization/hyper-v-on-windows/quick-start/enable-hyper-v
