Not sure what happened, but my mom's computer is crashing every time she tries to boot it. I attempted to uninstalled the recent updates and reboot, failed. I restored windows via the advanced system settings but keeping her files, continues to fail. I'm going to reinstall a fresh version of windows since it came with a lot of bloatware when she got it, but unfortunately all of her accounting files were on this computer. My parents are both self employed and will have to spend days, if not weeks, digging through files if I cannot get these recovered.
From the system recovery settings I am able to get to a command prompt, but for the life of me I cannot remember how to do anything (embarrassed to say took me 10 minutes to remember how to cd to a different directory.) I figured out how to move to where I thought her files should have been but cannot locate them.
Could someone help me remember how to search for files more easily, and then when they're found how to move them to a flash drive? I've tried googling what I'm wanting to do but I honestly don't have enough time in the day to sort through tons of links to find what I'm looking for.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
