My laptop died and repair man saved all in my hard drive...is it possible to transfer to a Ssd so I can but a laptop with SSD? Hard drive laptops are so few the choice is poor plus SSD is better?

Yes, to it all. Are you replacing the HDD or the Laptop?

Any software will have to be reinstalled and personal documents pictures ETC. can be just simply transferred over.

Did the repairman just copy your files over to the HDD or did he just clone/image the HDD containing Windows (including all your programs & files)?
If he saved the Windows drive as a clone/image then you can clone this to a SSD & place this in the laptop with everything intact.
