Hi, I want to upgrade my computer, the model is HP24 - CB1006LA, some software tells me that it is only compatible with slow SATA SSDs.
But doing an analysis with the speccy program, it turns out that it has an NVMe KBG40ZNV256G KIOXIA and also the manufacturer's page says that the ssd is nmve.
I add links
https://www.hp.com/co-es/shop/todo-en-uno-hp-24-cb1006la-69k52la.html

now the question is can I use a fourth generation nvme SSD, with very high performance?
for example ADATA LEGEND 900 SLEG-900-512GCS
computer also have
Intel Core i5 1235U
and motherboard Model 89E8 (U3E1)

I await your reply, best regards

Hello Enrique,

Honest answer is to leave the present SSD and instead upgrade the RAM and purchase an external USB SSD.

Reasons for the above include, the present SSD is just enough for Windows on its own, upgrading the SSD would involve removing the present SSD and fitting the new one then having to clean install Windows and the system drivers, you would also be left with an SSD that you cannot use.

Adding more RAM would speed up all round performance and using an external USB storage device removes all of the above explained hassle, doesn't leave you with an SSD that you cannot use and last but certainly not least it will make backing up Windows so much easier.

thanks for your answer, but it is necessary to change the SSD because it is giving me problems, for this reason I want to put one with better performance

Understood (y)

No need to purchase from them but use the Crucial system scanner tool to see what they advise, use the info that they provide to shop around where you are for the best deal

A RAM upgrade is a must as well else things will still be slow.

I have already tried this program, but it is wrong, because it recommends sata ssd, but as already said what I have is nvme

That is very odd;

Download then run Speccy ( free ) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

I write the relevant details here

ok thanks for the answer, I see that you have selected M.2 PCIe 3.0, but are you sure that my motherboard is not compatible with M.2 PCIe 4.0?

We will always only ever advise on what we know is 100% compatible and likewise we will never recommend something that we do not know for sure is 100% compatible, you will be advised the exact same on any other forum that you have post including the one at BC where you have been advised on the difficulties of the computer being an all in one.

The difference between the two at X4 will be negligible, unlike your RAM which at the moment is slow as molasses at 1333MHz.
