Earlier the other day my headset microphone just suddenly stopped working, it's been working just fine until then but suddenly it just doesn't pick anything up. I first tried using a different, new headset which also didn't work. Then I tried replacing the audio splitter I was using with a new one and still nothing. I've also tried some software fixes like making sure it's not muted, increasing the levels in the mic's properties uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, etc.

I figured maybe the mic port on my PC is broken so I bought a 3.5mm TRRS to USB adapter and still nothing. I can hear audio from my headset just fine still, but the mic just will not pick anything up and I'm completely stumped on what to do or attempt next.
 
Have you tried a system restore point to when it was working?

I have not, I will try this tomorrow and see how it goes. This is a solution I’ve not heard of yet so hopefully it fixes the issue
