I'm currently using VGA to VGA cable. Monitor has VGA / HDMI. Integrated graphics on tower-rear only has VGA. Will an HDMI to VGA cable give better performance in any way?

I have switched from integrated graphics to a discrete video card with DVI to HDMI cable. Will I see improved performance using DVI rather than VGA?

It is always preferable to use DVI cables in place of VGA, where DVI connections are available at each end of course. DVI carries both Analogue and Digital signals and is less affected by wire size, and cable length, and can operate at a higher resolution, among other stuff. Generally DVI cables will produce better viewing results than the old VGA ones which are all but dead except for old equipment only having those ports.

Have a look HERE and it has a good video included.
