I want to capture video mostly from my screen, possibly from a camera. I want to record video for later editing and publishing.
I'm looking at the following options:

Elgato HD60 S (External - USB 3)
Elgato HD60 Pro (Internal - PCIe)
Epiphan EV.IO (External)

But I'm confused about how the video is stored. For example with the Epiphan, there's no drivers or software to install, so how to tell it where to store the video, what format, etc.
The Elgato gets good reviews but most of the info I can find is for game streaming.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Hello

From what i read, example..Epiphan come's with the drivers.. It is listed in the spec's..

I haven't made any progress yet. i could not even find a YT video with demo of using the Elgato to record video - just game streaming :(

Looking at the name of their products it suggests to me that the devices are targeted at gamers but if you look further into their homepage they do provide options for various device set/ups PC info here and software info here

Elgato Game Capture HD
Elgato Game Capture HD60
Elgato Game Capture HD60 S
Elgato Game Capture HD60 Pro
Elgato Game Capture 4K60 Pro
Elgato Game Capture 4K60 Pro MK.2

Please note that before purchasing any video capture hardware or software you must check that your existing hardware is compatible, this includes such things as having the appropriate type and amount of input/output ports and the operating system.
