GPU not outputting via DVI, *sometimes*

My GPU seems to have a mind of its own, so every few months it’ll just stop outputting video. I’ve already reseated everything imaginable; cables, GPU, DVI cord, etc. so far today ive managed to get it to output video exactly once, saved BIOS settings and exited, PC restarted and now it’s not outputting video again. Motherboard VGA diag light does come on.

Specs
MB: B550 Gaming Plus
CPU: Ryzen 5600, forget which specific mode
GPU: MSI GTX 960
RAM: Silicon Power Gaming Series DDR4 16GBx2 3200Mhz
HDD is a WD BLUE 500GB

Motherboard, CPU, and RAM are all brand new, just got them in two days ago.

One component Speccy doesn’t cover is the Power Supply Unit, so please also include the make/model of the PSU.

PSU is an Antecedent 400w PSY, forgot what standard. I know it’s not the PSU because it has this problem before with a different motherboard and CPU. I figured it might be a bad DVI cable, so I poked an HDMI to VGA up to it (my monitor doesn’t have HDMI) and it’s having the same issue, so it’s gotta be the GPU. Motherboards video diagnostic light still comes on with HDMI to VGA converter.
 
it usually does, GPU just doesn’t work every few months. It’s getting power; MSI logo lights up, fans kick on, etc, it just doesn’t output sometimes. It may be something on the GPU board, just don’t know.

Basically the way the cycle goes is that the rig will work perfectly fine for a while (anywhere from like 4-18 months) and then every so often it will stop outputting video for some reason. 🤷‍♂️
 
the reason for the Speccy report is that is lists a whole bunch of stats, some of which can be helpful in trying to diagnose what could be the cause.
it'll show all the install updates, drivers and process, list the RAM timings, BIOS date, drive SMART values, and a whole crap lot more.
 
Gotcha. Well if I ever get the video to output I’ll return with a speccy. Until then it looks like I’ll be restarting and swapping cables
 
Update; Pulled GPU, installed brothers 1050 ti, his GPU works fine in my rig.

So basically my GOU is, in some form or another, damaged. Or dusty, I don’t know yet. I’ll try blowing it out and seeing if that helps, otherwise I guess it’s time to upgrade my GPU, and probably my power supply at the same time since I bought my power supply just to run the GPU.
 
Update 2; Layed down with my kid for a nap.

Brother put my GOU back in.

I start up PC, it outputs video, but he forgot **to plug the PCIe power cable back into the GPU** so of course I had to shut it down, plug it in, boot it up, and now I’m back to no video. 🤬
 
Update, forgot my dad had an NVIDIA 630, but the 630 doesn’t work either, so I think my 8”960 and his 630 are both shot.
