And it happens every time I plug in a different external HDD for the first time. WIndows installs its driver and the new external HDD drive works fine. But when I try to use my old regular USB flash drive afterwards, there is that annoying message, this drive will work faster if you plug it into blah blah blah... every time. Now,

Now, the one thing that always helped was to remove BIOS battery and place it back, but even that doesn't help anymore after the latest new external HDD usage.

Goes without saying that reinstalling every USB drivers never helped, checking cables, actual speed, pins etc etc etc etc... nothing helped that was found as an advice on the internet. The only thing that ever helped was the battery thing but as said it is not helping anymore.

I don't know why I am even writging this since I've read the entire internet on the subject 10 times. But there you go.

Hello

Sounds like to me,that your old flash drive is 2.0 usb and so most new 3.0 usb ports are backwards compatible for devices using the 2.0 usb system and hench forth it is why you get that message.
