Hello.For about a month or possibly 2,don't quite remember, I have been getting fps drops in the only game I play lately.However I also installed another game and that has also been getting the same drops.

So what have I checked so far;
CPU: temp never went above 70° and usage never past 65%,however wattage showed a significant drop from 70-90 to 10-20 when I get the frame drops.Game graphics settings doesn't change anything.
GPU: temp never above 55° and usage never above 50%.Couldn't find how to show GPU wattage with afterburner so I'm probably just too stupid.

I have tried removing drivers with DDU and reinstalled it clean.Checked background processes that might hog resources,also nothing there.Tried playing with an open case for lower temps,didn't help either.Malware/virus scans didn't show anything.Did a memory test to see if RAM was faulty but nothing wrong there.Userbenchmark test also showed nothing.

Anything else I'm forgetting?Thanks in advance.

Hello Freepick,

Xilence XP700R6 700 W ATX Power Supply

You are killing your GPU with the above pile of junk, so bad that it is rated as – Tier E • Avoid here

As a starting point;

You need to get yourself a minimum of a 650W or above Gold efficiency rated PSU from one of the following, Corsair RM range, EVGA, Seasonic or Super Flower.

Edit to add:

While we look at the Speccy report, one thing I will suggest is that you change the Windows Power Plan to Balanced, High Performance is a form of overclocking that is known to cause stability and overheating issues and a weak PSU such as the one that you have will get hotter and weaker the more that you use it.

I see,didn't know it was such a bad psu.
Also might have to add,when playing the game in question (mostly Planetside 2) I never see my gpu above 50% but this could still be the problem?
I heard it was a very CPU intensive game,though I don't understand how/why it would give me fps drops now after playing it for give or take 8 months and only the last 2 months I have had this issue.
Also have been getting it with MW2 however that seems to be 'fixed' mostly after dropping my settings to something lower even though similar builds run alot better than mine.

Any particular PSU u would suggest however?Price/quality.

It is worse than bad I`m afraid and the reason why your GPU never gets above 50% is because the PSU cannot provide the power needed for it to perform any better.

I don't understand how/why it would give me fps drops now after playing it for give or take 8 months and only the last 2 months I have had this issue.

The more that you have used it the weaker the PSU has become and therefore has become noticeable, it is not your only problem but it is your immediate concern as it may well take out all of you hardware when it pops.

Which power supply do you need?

To allow for your additional storage devices and a bit of wiggle room for any more upgrades, Corsair RM750e (2023)

Did you notice the edit in my reply #2.

Can I ask that you do not quote every reply as we have to read the full post to make sure nothing gets missed,, thanks.

As per your recommendation I ordered a better PSU.
Ordered a Corsair RM850X as it had a sale and was cheaper than the one u suggested and I assume its still a good one as it was listed as a 80+ gold PSU.

I will test the new PSU when it arrives and hopefully this solves my problems.

Many thanks already and my apologies for the quotes.

Any news yet ?
Not yet...seems my package got displaced at DPD (package delivering service here) so I have to wait until they let me know,however if they don't send me a mail tomorrow before midday I will go to the store and get it there,they can sort out the mess with DPD.

Alright so,PSU finally arrived and from the first glance my cpu and gpu wattages are much higher and consistent.
Especially my GPU wattage readings are much higher and consistently above 100+ now compare to 60-80 before.

Not sure whether or not you are saying that you are all sorted, do you still need help or are you all sorted ?

It seems like I have no more problems,if it does arise I'll make a new thread I suppose.

So in my opinion this can get locked and marked solved .(y)
