Files Keep disappearing after moving them on new USB Pen drives

Hi PCHFMs,

I'm in the process of transferring a lot of files from my old laptop to my new one and to do so, I'm using some pretty large capacity USB pen drives. Their 64GBs each.

The problem is that after multiple attempts, they keep doing vanishing acts.

I've tried moving many files and pasted others and it all seemed okay. I even played some of the videos I put in there. But after removing the USB, (that's after clicking the "Eject UDisk") and plugging it back in, those very files are gone.

At least, they're not visible. I think that I'm still losing space on the USB drive. I've tried several cmd codes to solve this. None of them work.

Please help me guys. I want to set up my new laptop and be able to function again. And I would love to recover the files I lost. I have some important stuff I need for an upcoming project.

I've also scanned them using both, the windows scanner and my panda anti-virus scanner. It says "No threats detected"
 
I just tried to use windows repair drive function and says something went wrong and couldn't do it.

Please help!
 
I think I just made things worse. I just tried some commands that involved the a word "clean" and now both my usb drives won't open.
I click them and they say, "insert usb drive D" our something like that.
Is this bad? Did I just kill my pen drives?

I think I saw an option to format them but it says it has to delete everything on it. I want to retrieve the data badly. Please help guys.
 
Lets clean up all the old drivers related to your USB devices.

  • Remove All usb connected items from the computer, only leave the mouse and keyboard installed.
  • Download drivecleanup.zip to your desktop.
  • CLICK HERE to determine whether you’re running 32-bit or 64-bit for Windows.
  • Once the determination has been made, open either the 32-bit or 64-bit folder.
  • Right Click the .exe on the inside of the folder, and Run as Administrator.
  • A command prompt window will open, telling you what has been removed upon completion.
  • Reboot your machine.
  • Check the issue.
 
Ok, here's what its telling me.
Removed 8 usb devices
Removed 0 USB hubs
Removed 5 disk devices
Removed 1 CDROM devices (??that's weird. I don't even have a CD drive nor have I ever plugged one in)
Removed 0 floppy devices
Removed 8 storage volumes
Removed 0 WPD devices (for a second there, thought I read WMDs...:))
Removed 124 items from registry

I'm about to reboot. Hope this works.
 
Ok. I've rebooted and allowed Windows to reinstall usb devices.
But I still get, "phase insert a disk into removable disk (D/E:)."
 
Okay, I manage to format my usb drives by going to disk management and right clicking something and selecting the first option. I had to choose from either exFAT or NTFS. I went with exFAT.
Lost all the data but I can use them again.
For some reason, there's only 58.59GB of total space. They're supposed to be 64 GB. I can't remember if they came like that or not.
The good news is that it turns out I only copied the videos. I found them in my video folder during petty and another important folder was thankfully moved into my onedrive.
But, I would like to know how to recover that data for future reference. Or is it too far gone in this case?
